Default OBX 4-2-1 header

Hi everyone (i am fairly new here)
i was searching for xb parts on ebay and came across this header
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-L...Q5fAccessories

this looks exactly the same with WR header...

does anyone know if there are any performance difference between the two?
i also notice the OBX has the tab for mounting onto the OEM bracket...(it seems better)

thanks

Default ....Limited slip header.....

WoW, yes.... OBX 4-2-1 Header is great, get that knock-off and install it.

The e-bay link is for a differantial.

I got a cheap e-bay header for $25, but it has no way to re-attach the heat shield.

I would prefer to have the heat shield.

Check your link.....

So can someone expect seat-of-the-pants improvement by installing a good header on the xB? I have been thinking of doing a header with a good "mellow" muffler. I don't like loud and blatty sounding exhaust.

Any suggestions?

I have had the OBX 4-2-1 header for @ 2 years and its great you will feel an improvement in performance mostly in the low end torque.

For those of you who have this, are the bolt holes threaded? Were you able to use the stock bolts/springs?

this is the right link...
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=200299875831

so... with the 4-2-1...
i shouldn't expect much high end gain?

No, the 4-2-1 will give you a bump in the low-mid end. A 4-1 is better for higher end.

just don't match a 4-1 header with a cold air intake = no low end power

i have a strup 4-1 with the AEM CAI.
i still have low end kick, it's not bad at all. and when you get to 4K, everything really kicks in.

That's mostly what I'm looking for is low to mid gains. Most my driving is around town and some gains down low would be nice, especially with the automatic.

Thanks.

I purchased this and recieved it today. Surprised and happy to see mounting tabs for the stock heat shield, as the pic on the auction I won didn't show this. They've updated the pic on the current auction to show the tabs. Hopefully I will get to install it this weekend.

Good find. I might just buy this one and chuck my cheap e-bay header that was $25.

Please let us know if the OEM HEAT Shield goes back on that correctlly.

Installed today. Support bracket didn't line up so it's not being used. The heat shield tabs didn't all line up either. I had to grind out a little bit of one of the top holes in the heat shield in order to get both the tops holes to line up. The bottom two are tabs way off, probably an inch away from the bottom holes in the head shield. New holes would need to be drilled for the bottom screws, but just having the top two screws on tight keeps it on snug with no vibrations. Other than that, had no problems with the actual header fitment. Re-used doughnut gasket. Already had a K&N cai and Strup exhaust. While driving around tonight, I felt smoother and better acceleration throughout RPM range. Didn't hit the highway, but definitely noticed better around-town acceleration, like in the 3-4krpm range. The few times I floored it, felt it pulled better overall, and adds some chop to the overall sound.

I used only the bottom bolt in the block and pivoted the block-to-header support over to the header, then tightened the 2 bolts up, it fits good that way.
the header was designed for RHD cars witch have other parts in the way so the header tubes are moved over compared the our U.S. headers.

i just got one last week and installed today...
pretty easy install...
(the hardest part is probably getting the cowl off.)
took me around 1 and a half hour.

Like Grant314 said... bottom 2 heat shield tap doesn't line up.
braket bolt doesn't line up.

for noise-wise... i don't think there much difference... may be just a little bit more throatier...(deep sound, but just a little bit more)

Performance wise, doesn't feel as draging as before when climbing up the RPM.
