Cams are always nice, but I think that the ecu will still beat it up preaty badly. To bad we dont have a race mode for the xb's comp. I am still looking for a stock crank pully in the 310 area code. Any one!!

So you have tried it and it works well then? I took a quick glance and checked out one of the sellers web. How hard was it to install and get working properly?

The ECU is the computer that controls your engine(how it runs). Megasquirt is a company that makes aftermarket things for cars. You still have not said wether or not you instaled the ecu fix.

just drive easy while the blue light is on, i try to keep it under 3k 'till it goes off, just sitting there idling is not neccessary or even good.

Yeah the blue light means "I am warming up" Like he said just dont drive it hard when the blue light is on all the way.
At 4,000 rpm you get max torque and at 6,100 rpm you get max hp. Respectivaly! I drive on the free ways alot here in LA and at 80 mph it is at 4,000 rpm. My engine has goton broken in to freeway driving and at first I thought this aint good, but at this point I dont think that it is going to harm your engine to much because you red line at 6,300 rpm. I am sure that some one will conradict me here but if Toyota/Scion was concernd about that issue then they would have geard it differnt.

makes sense to me it just seems to ez to wind up and i dont wanna hurt the little cute engine . so in theory you shouldnt be able to hurt it unless you go all the way to red line ? i dunno so im asking

it's he lack of power. the xa/xb's gear rations in manual transmission forms are quite nice.

I think it could use a differnt trany with a six speed. That whole 5th gear reving out a little to quick. But then again you kinda gota keep the gears on the low end because of the power isue. When taking off from stop dont drop bellow like 2k rpm. That works well and when racing 2.5-3K. Thats just me though.

It is entirely possible the first few to try this didn't know what they were doing, or, the design they used is not complimentary to how our heads flow and the engine ingests air. However, N/A, with such a low throughput, head porting, without cams, is probably useless. Under boost however, getting more air in can really only help.. but still has to be done right.

However, it's all for nothing if the stock ECU adjusts itself to counteract any such increased airflow.
