What I dont get is why everyone wants an engine swap when it would probably be easier to beef up the bottom end a strap some psi up to it, whether it be belt or exhaust drivin is up to you

the pic of the turbo motor in the xA looks a lot like the 7afe in my celica. i could be wrong, but i believe they had a tom's turbo corolla in japan limited edition that came with 7afte, tmic. then again, ive seen 4aftes that look similar. is that a 1.8l? if so, i think its 7afe.

i always thought it would be fun to swap a celica gts or a tc motor into my xb, to me it just makes more sense to put in a stronger motor rather that waste time on the piece of junk it has under the hood, i mean seriously its an echo motor that doesn't really scream power

let me guess, you picked the heavy 2AZ motor for your xB because it's a scion motor lmfao..

the 2AZ is not that great of a powerplant...

I have to speak up here. I got out of a 99 Seville Northstar when I bought my Xb. It had 97k on it which shouldn't be a big deal for what is promised to be a workhorse engine.

It did run well. Very well. You'd hit 105 without having to ask. The oil that is uses, just as said above is horrible, but is not the least of your concerns with a N*. The serious problem that most N*s have is cracked head gaskets.

The head gaskets are assembled with dowels instead of bolts so when the gasket fails, as it will due to Dexcool coolant and a dissimilarity of metals, the dowels must be drilled out and the block must be rethreaded. It's a $3800 job and most owners buy a rebuilt crate at that point if they keep the car.

Just saying, I'm all about the swap but the N* is not my top choice...
