what doesn't sound ricey on a 1.5L. i don't wanna waste my money and end up going back to the stock exhaust if there's not one.

I have the 5zigen fireball and it doesn't sound ricey at all, even at high RPMs. It has a nice, low tone that isn't very loud at idle (I can only hear it if I'm outside of the car near the hatch) and it stays mellow while revving, never raspy.

i think i may just stick with the stock exhaust, because anything i put on a 1.5L 4-cylinder is guaranteed to disappoint me after driving a 3.8L V6 with dual flowmasters for 2 1/2 years :p

Running Greddy SP2 on xA. Almost too quiet. Satisfies the girlfriend though (not in that way). Ha.

Call me a simple man, but i've got the trd exhaust on mine, i love it..its got a nice growl, never sounds ricey of course, and it sounds good at idle and when revving...of course that's just my opinion, i might get a full cat-back eventually, but i'm lovin the trd for now, had it for 1 1/2 years now...

someone setup a exhaust sound clip thread. we have one on rx8club and it definitely influenced my decision. i'm sure all the folks running aftermarket setups could contribute, then we'd have a kick-a$$ exhaust thread most worthy of a sticky!

If you do an exhaust sound clip thread, make sure you have clips noted with engine mods listed. Aftermarket headers and intakes change the volume and raspiness on most exhaust systems.

Not only do you need to list what other modifications are included, but also exactly where the microphone was located relative to the exhaust tip. We may even want to list what type of device was used to capture the sound, and how old the exhaust was.

Maybe even develop a standard procedure for capturing the sound clips.

Well, I have an '06 tC and as far as mods I have that have "sound" to them, Im running an Injen full CAI and CAT back exhaust. the Injen exhaust specifically is very well tuned for the Scions. and it has a nice deep tone to it throughout the rpm range.. deeper at lower rpms, and winds up at around 3500+ to a nice pure race sound. Very well built parts by a solid manufacturer and reasonably priced.

i have the strup exhaust...but also the strup header, so mine is pretty loud..but a deep loud which i love

if you want quiet, the Borla is very nice, i started out with that...it sounds nice and smooth, has a low hum to it, and good quality

I absolutely hated the Borla when i had it. The quality was decent, but i hated the design of it.
