errrr have you tried a bigger cheater/breaker bar???

 

I have an 06 xA and have been driving it for two years with the same problem. I don't like the idea of having to take it to Toyota, since I really want to keep all my limbs intact, but I love this car and at some point I will have to pay the piper. I am almost certain that Toyota has the technique and or tooling to facilitate removal and replacement, so I'd hate to tell you if this really bothers you, take it to the dealers. I have been building up bicep and tricep muscles I didn't even know existed driving mine like this for two years now. I find it isn't so bad until someone locks you into a tiny space in the city like where I live. Most people have very little respect for my car because of its size. At the mall parking lots other cars park their tires over into my territory. So I just take revenge and comfort in being able to zig and zag where big cars would either look awkward or clumsy doing so. I have had at least five mechanics look at it, and decide not to even touch it. The one poor guy was caught by surprise when he just attempted to replace the belt, what a nightmare. My next car will definitely be a Toyota but I may have to go for a Camry so I can go back to working on my own car.
