Smile Replaced the fuel Evaporative Canister..

Yes, it was time to replace the Evaporative Canister assembly.
- The 3 error lights, codes, and a weeping leak on the unit.

I found this video to be very helpful.

I biggest difficulty I encountered was the removal of an upper right-angle hose fitting coming from the gas tank.

After discovering that the fitting's 2 tabs to release the fingers on the fitting did not work as advertised, I spent 2 frustrating hours using a right-angle pick to get them over the molded ridge on the unit pipe.

Finally, I was able to manipulate the fingers without destroying them and remove the fitting.

And that, class, is how I spent my 4th of July.

with mine it was the valve/solenoid on the canister and since that's not a separate part to order

It was fun to see the carbon particles falling out of one of the larger pipes on the unit.
PS:
My back still hurts 3 days later from being on the concrete driveway.

Also replaced the Purge Valve unit that clips onto the Air Intake box in the engine compartment... just for good measure.

Next Task
Replace the Pre-Cat Oxygen Sensor
Looks like I can order that (NGK 24111) from Autozone for about $92.

you need a floor mat or cardboard to lay on... good luck with your O2 sensors...

Smile MAGIC ! - No 3 Lights

Okay, I put the vapor canister in on Monday afternoon (july 4).

Today, (Friday, July eight), after 100 miles....
Each of the dreaded "3 Lights" disappeared, and I suddenly felt better acceleration.

Next step:
Get another scan to confirm or deny that I need to replace the upstream O2 sensor.

I also had the "terrible three" warning lights, turned out the solenoid as well as the evap canister needed replacing. So after replacement, no warning lights and an extra 2 MPGs.

Default If you cannot get the right angle gas fitting off...

Just trim and attach using a hose clamp. Have done this several times without problems.

ALSO--A WARNING-I bought a Dorman replacement from Partsgeek which lasted a few days less than 3 years. The solenoid stopped working--which is the usual failure mode. I would advise not buying this brand. I note that if you buy from Advance Auto there is one with a 3 year guarantee which would have been a money saver.
