Slack in throttle cable - very easy adjustment
#21
Just adjusted mine this past weekend. 2 day of driving to work has proven this mod an A++++!!!!!
Sorry no pics at this time for those who are asking for them, but it really simple mod.
Open the hood, find the throttle cable. trace the throttle cable from the throttle body back to where cable mounting bracket is. there will be 2 nuts that hold the cable to the mounting bracket. loosen the nuts and adjust to take out the slack in the cable. Make sure not to over adjust. tighten the nuts and enjoy.
Took me less than 10 minutes(longer to find the wrenches than making the adjustments)

I need to do this mod next... I'll do it today and post pics ( since no one else wants to )
I checked mine already and it's not THAT loose. It seems ok, but if I don't like how it feels when it's tight, I can just put it back the way it was... Personally, I don't like a really "tight" gas pedal. I like to ease on the gas when I take off, (yes, like a granny) But we'll see how it feels.
Pics are comin' today guys....

Ok kids, here we go. DO THIS MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK! I am no expert, just giving a helpful hand.
The throttle cable runs over the battery, then down the front of the engine bay, and finally into the throttle body. The place to make the adjustment can be found behind the grille, above the radiator...
Here's the top veiw
To make the adjustment, simply loosen the two nuts that hold down the cable, shown here:
After they are loose, move the nut on the left towards the throttle body. Then tighten the other nut, moving them together again. Only a few turns should do it. Once you have them where you want, tighten the two nuts down again.
REMEMBER, if you move them too far, you will cause the throttle to remain slightly open all of the time. You don't want that. Only remove the "granny slack" in the cable for better throttle response. If you first check the cable and it is NOT loose, there is no need for this adjustment.
After the adjustment, start the car and see that your idle is still normal. If not, your cable may be too tight, holding the throttle open.
Take it for a spin and see how it feels.

This mod WORKS! i know it's placebo, but having better response at the pedal feels like you eliminated 200 pounds or so from your car... Thanks alot for sharing it with us.
Now I really can't wait for my SRI and exhaust......

I did this on my 2002 accord (which im driving again for now ) a coupla of years ago. It made a world of difference, that cable was beyond having a little slack, it was loose!
If by over rev you mean go beyond redline, it wont. If you take out too much slack and put tension on the cable, the car will idle higher, because the throttle is open at all times. I would also hope that traction control kicks in on slippery surfaces, didnt know that was an undesired result

completed the mod today, but my idel is an increment below 1000rpm( where normal idel was. The idel is not higher, but one increment lower.( 500 rpm) The pedel is firm and response is better. How will i know if the throttle body is open? Will a lower idel harm my car?
