Default spark plugs

I just hit 30K miles. The book wants the spark plugs changed. Any better than the rest? What about the wires...are the stock ones good enough
thanks

NGK is at Advanced, I wouldn't waste your money on platinum tips or the iridium. They last longer but for the price, you could have swapped out three sets of the standard ones, and new they don't perform any better. Best bang for the buck is the NGK V-power, P/N BKR5EYA. Just check them every oil change and replace when needed and you're good.

Forgot to add, we use individual coil packs on the block. it basically acts as a transformer to step up the voltage prior to the spark plug. Since our coil packs sit directly over the plug, there is no wire to replace. The connector on the end of the coil pack is only carrying 12V and relatively low current so insulation does not need to be thick like the high voltage plug wires on older cars. Oh, it's also not removeable without cutting the engine harness.

You can upgrade to aftermarket coil packs if you want, but they are hard to find and expensive. The stock ones will work just fine.

Word for word, I agree 100%. Well stated vettereddie! Plug change on the xB is so simple, I replace mine every year. Takes maybe 10 minutes.

disagree in my case I run denso iridium's plugs... I do 30,000 miles a year... I can get 3 years vs twice a year

How come on NGK's website all the plugs available for the xA/xB are listed as having a .032 gap? Any advantage to going .044?
