Default Strup axleback LOUD!

Well i bought the Strup axle back for my xB and thought it sounded great when I first fired it up. Once I started driving down the road for awhile it was way too loud for my taste. I have a 5spd and I figured it would not drone so much but I was wrong. I must be getting too old LOL JK. I guess I will have to sell it, sucks because I had it on for like 50 - 60 miles. I put the stock one back on for now. Has anyone else had the same thing happen to them or similar? If so what other exhausts have you found that are much quieter and still look as good as the Strup? Thank you for any help or insight anyone can offer in advance.

Is there a silencer you can stick in the end to quiet it down? It'd lower the flow but might work for longer drives. Adding some sound damping to the hatch is supposed to help a lot too. The sound is the reason I didn't plan on replacing mine. They're all at least a little louder than stock, which is louder than I like sometimes. The stock one is supposed to be pretty good for so an aftermarket doesn't add that much power.

Yeah I think I am going to leave it stock also now, I just love the look of a nice tip sticking out and just a tiny rumble but the Strup was a huge rumble for my taste. There is a silencer for it but I am sure it will just restrict the flow and that is not at all what I want to do.

So the DC one is also loud huh? Good to know, I also considered the TRD but I have heard some bad things about it too. Like the tip discolors after awhile and it also is a tad loud. I really like the stock quiet and would love to find something a little more but not too much. I will keep looking around and see what I can find out about others. I hope to here from others too.

How loud is the TRD one? I am really not happy with loud at all. I am back on the stock right now and I love driving the box again. I was getting headaches yesterday and today driving with that exhaust on there. I am thinking of getting Greddy is the other reason I ask about how loud, I heard the Greddy is real nice and quiet.

I am selling the Strup I have on the other forum, since I don't have 50 posts here yet. I will eventually it's just that I have only had the box for 2 1/2 weeks. http://www.clubxb.com/forums/f4/7443...xb/#post111586

the stock muffler isn't bad performance wise but the 1.75 inche piping is bad for performance.

Same thing happened to me with my DC Sports exhaust. Too loud for me and the drone is pretty bad. I went with a Tanabe Medallion Touring and I like it MUCH better than the DC. Nice low sound without any drone.

I was just looking into that one also. I am torn between the Greddy EVo2 and the Tanabe Touring.

*edit* I just purchased the Greddy Evo2. I will be getting it in a couple of days and install it and see how it sounds.

I have no one that wants it yet so no problem as of now. I am not in a hurry to unload it, I bought the Greddy EVO2 so it is in my garage in the box all packed up.
