Default swap for tC engine

do you think that you could put the tC engine in the xB? Its bigger but its still a 4 cylinder engine.

Sure.. would be easy. I'm sure it will fit fine and bolt up with no problem. Might take 30 or 35 minutes to do the whole thing.. Great idea.

What I was thinking was if you put the larger engine in the smaller car and supercharge that, you would have a rocket. Anyobody see a problem with that?

Sounds like you really thought this thing out.. I don't see any problems with this idea..
Well maybe one or two little things.... Like the engine probably won't fit without major modifications. The extra weight will mess up the balance and handling and the suspension will need to be changed. The braking system will need to be upgraded. The transmission, diff, half shafts, etc will need to be upgraded to handle the extra power.
Other than these minor issues... you idea is very good.

If you want a fast car, buy a fast car.

people do swaps all the time... who cares if its easy...

if your "theory" was true... noone would customize their cars at all and everyone would deal with what the factory gave them... and they would all be douche bags like you

And if it weren't for idiots like you, many of these worthless aftermarket parts would not sell.

Its not that bad of a idea. It is always good to dream. Can it be done? Maybe, will it be cheap & easy nope. If you want added power, go with a Corolla engine + TRD S/C on it. Also do a exhaust + headers and you should be right around 160whp. Im not sure how the S/C thing would work, but over all if they could get a Celica GT-S engine into a Echo, I dont see why you could get the normal rolla engine into the same platform.

If you want to stick with doing the 2.4L swap then things you will need to think about. The size of the engine, H-W-L might be to big. You would need to have engine mounts, tranny mounts, axels, ECU, wiring harness, fuel upgrades, cooling upgrades, brake upgrades, suspension upgrades etc. Going with a engine of that size you might even need some body reinforcment. The engine put have to much torque and might break the engine mounts if not bolt to a strong enough place. I guess it depends on how much money you want to spend. There was some one on here who was going to try to get a older MR-2 Turbo engine into his xB, not sure what ever happend to that

You can't fit in a mini? Those cars have lots of room. I'm 6'4 and was amazed how much head and leg room there was.... just surprised to hear you can't fit.

great idea... I wanted to put the cobra engine in my tc, so i went ahead and bought a cobra so I could remove the engine... Now i have a dead cobra in my front porch and im scratching my head thinking how im going to do this...

Anyways, back to reality. Why would you want to do an engine swap with an XB when you could just str8 up buy a nicer/faster car for WAY cheaper than it would take to swap engines, modify suspension etc. I Understand that its a great feeling when your the underdog, and people look at you and laugh thinking ur a joke, and then you smoke them, but at least if your going to do engine swap pick a car thats a bit older and relatively easy to swap like a egg on wheels. I agree a swap is a great idea, but not every car is a good candidate for it.

my god. people love to jump all over swap dreamers, its annoying.
Some people want an xb, some people want a fast car...
some people want a fast xb, there is nothing wrong with that, but most of those people cannot afford the money and time to make it happen.
and you can make an xb as fast as a cooper-S, buy a turbo, or an S/C, but it will cost as much as a mini in the end.

dude if your lookin for speed and power you are starting out with the wrong car, i dont know about anyone else, but i got my box because its pratical, not to mention its killer style, i can understand a few mods for a lil extra power, but a tx engine swap? why? if you want to be strapped to a tc engine go an buy one,... why would you spend another 15 grand on top of what you paid for the car? just take the 30 gs and buy something that will satify your craving for power and speed...

His question may seem to you to be ridiculous. Many ideas sounded ridiculous in the past. May voices of reason spoke, but they still kept going and created something awesome and original, that the voice of reason was left speechless.

Wright brothers is a simple example.

This subject has been discussed over and over again, try the search feature. It might help answer your questions faster.

Lastly, if you have deep pockets anything is possible. Do a Google for the Lexus IS300 project completed by Chip Foose. They put a nice V8 in that little car.
