Tanabe Medallion Touring exhaust installed - (pics and vid)
I got my Tanabe Medallion Touring exhaust and installed it on my xA. This is a very nicely finished stainless steel system with a 3.5 inch rolled tip. I got this system to replace the DC Sports exhaust I put on but hated so I sold it.
The Tanabe system is for those who want an exhaust that isn't obnoxious sounding or has a gaudy fart can tip. It uses an offset inlet/outlet and is not a straight through design like most of the other systems. Not being a straight through system keeps the noise level down but still make a very nice deep tone.
My DC system was way too loud for me and droned in the cabin big time. The Tanabe can be heard from inside the car but there is NO drone at all and it has a very nice but mature tuned sound.
From the rear of the car the exhaust fits like the stock system and not angled (like the DC) which I prefer. The fit is great and you can see the stainless steel canister tucked under the car for a little bling, but again, not gaudy.
As far as performance goes I did notice that the car pulls a bit harder. I also have an Ingen SRI and a MMW header so this system helps maximize those parts. On my first test drive I did a mildly rapid start and actually caused the TRAC to come on and it was perfectly dry out. My xA never did that before!
I am very happy with this exhaust and it is exactly what I wanted for my car. So, if you want an aftermarket exhaust with great looks and sound, this is the one for you.
Here's a video of a few throttle blips at idle. I will post some more of it in action soon.

The pic is a bit deceiving. If anything it's a tiny bit too much to the left IMO.
