That's ok. I have an intake as well, so it won't matter.

Dunno about the TRD model for an xA, but I like the one on my xB. Reminds me of 60's vintage English sports cars... Not too loud, maybe a few hp, hangs perfectly in the stock cutout.

It does drone right at 3K rpm- which translates to 60 mph. It's apparently tuned that way to fatten up the power curve at that point. in racing two stroke parlance, they'd say that's where it's "on the pipe".

The answer for me is to just not drive 60- a little faster or slower moves the whole thing out of that resonant sound band...

Yeh, I used sound deadener and the pink stuff in the rear hatch, sound deadener in the cargo area floor , rear quarter panels and doors... I did that in an attempt to kill road noise, but it does soften the exhaust note as well, inside the car...

No, no...I meant that I WOULD like a sound clip.....meaning that it didn't matter whether you had an intake or not.

Sorry if I came across as a smart-a$$.

Jhhnn.....thank you for your feedback. I'm certainly going to do the rear sound deadening even if I don't get an exhaust.

Ummm stainless isn't suppossed to rust. It must be made of cheap stainless.
evosky, you could use some steel wool on the bad spots and Mothers metal polish to bring it back if it's not too far gone.

heh yeah, i'm pretty sure the person who had it before me really didn't take too much care of the box. probably drove it through salted roads all the time without hosing down.

just recently installed it and it sounds GREAT! I plan on having some 2.25" stainless pipe bent with a highflow cat from the header to the trd to open things up even a little more. should have it done early next week, but for now, heres somthing to hold you over

Just thought I would bump this thread. Still waiting on some fine, upstanding Scion citizen to help a brother out with a sound clip of the TRD or even the Borla exhaust.....particularly at highway speeds with a 5 speed....though I'll take what I can get.

On the xB the TRD is just slightly louder than the stock muffler. That's why I went Strup instead. I wanted to actually hear it.

I've got the TRD exhaust. I like it, but I've been thinking about getting something else lately. Maybe the strup exhaust and headers.
