Looks good, its different for that affect. I have thought about getting some thing sheet metal & making a box around my air filter (in same place as yours). Then making incased all but 1 side, thats facing the fog light. The only problem is, like the others have said.. If it rained, I would be stuck. So I have been trying to figure out a way to build something like this, with a back up for when it rains I could still drive the thing.

well if i were to run with a short ram like that. i wouldnt pop out holes unless i was sure it was gonna be dry that day. then i would run without the foglight cover all together.

this way i can have the filter still protected in bad weather

I have been mulling over getting the YDR intake for a month or so. However, a lot of folks recommend the K&N. The big difference I see is the location of the air cleaner, the K&N being lower and farther from the engine area. I realize that most folks say this is better because it will have a source of colder air.
However, I really wonder if it really makes that big of a difference. Has anyone ever done any definitive tests using temperature probes to actually measure the results??
I have an indoor/outdoor thermometer that I might rig up to check the temps at different locations. I'll get back with some readings. In the meantime I would like to hear your opinions.

that's pretty cool. how did you mak the cutouts?

maybe you could put some mesh in it and some kind of filter/sponge so that water getting inter the filter is reduced/elimiated on the rainy days

I have a cut out that is not drilled that i keep in the back just incase I have to drive in a hard rain.
I used a 1 3/4" Hole saw to make the cuts and put some black mesh on the back side, Than I spray painted the inside of the hole black for effect.

anyone think about cutting grill mesh that you can buy at autozone, etc, and using that

I thought about that, but can't visualize if it would be tacky or not.

on my XA the K&N placement is PERFECT for this type of thing.....i dont have factory fogs and the placement of the filter is directly behind the plastic cover so when it rains i just pop it on and when i go out to run it i pop it off there is a small noticable gain and the pipe is much cooler to touch when you pop the hood....XA-RAMAIR
