From the rules:

6. Please do NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS as this is considered "yelling".

C'mon, have you ever seen an drag racer with an auto tranny? OF COURSE. They are generally more consistent for bracketing and it's probably a little safer for the engine/ drivetrain than a stick.

It will work. It is going to increase the power you have available. Sure, auto trannies have more power loss thru them than a stick, but the differences aren't that great and its not like its going to steal so much power as to negate the effects.

Now the question of whether its financially "worth it" is another matter altogether...

This car redlines at 6200. Ok first off even a 6200 redline sucks for a 5 speed car. Now your thinking about turboing a car thats auto and reds at 6200 when infact it probably shifts at ~5k i think a supercharger might be a better option for an auto box

IMHO...turbo automatic is a waste.. i guess.. though i saw a sc'd fiero at the track once... it won every bracket race it was in...hella trophies

they made fiero's in manual too. but yes in most cases auto is better for drag but on a tiny 4cyl car it just earns it 's name SLUSHBOX. lol.

For bigger displacement cars, I really couldn't care, auto or manual. . . but our cars are really slow, and I wanted to shave every millisecond I could off acceleration. . . that is why I went 5spd (saves over a full second off 0-60 for the xA, and that's just to 60). But auto makes sense for A LOT of people, and for drag racing (where you are using built trannies and high stall torque convertors) it makes a lot of sense).

Auto's nowadays are built better than ever, and are quite respectable. But I can't afford a turbo right now or supercharger, and this thing is slow enough as it is. . . for me.

autos and turbo are a freat combo, you wont have to wait for spool up when shifting and youll be consistant in bracket drag racing. whoever said boost and automatics are a waste hasnt driven an auto 300ZX turbo aganist a 5 speed one. the Turbo auto is faster

with a crappier driver maybe , and again that is stock 300zx turbod right? the auto tranny cannot hold as much power as the manual can. at least not without an extensive , expennsive build up.

no these cars are both stock. its the spool up and down in the manual that makes it a tick slower. im talking tenths of a second not seconds

stock xb/xa tranny's won't take well to any F/I w/out being built. I'm only at 5psi of boost and my tranny is already slipping.

But honestly turbo'ing an xb is a complete waste of time. But thats just my opinion.
