Default weird noise when breaking...drive shaft problems???

i am hoping that someone will have a clue as to what is going on but this is the stoy. today, when i was backing out of a parking space i noticed that when i put on the brakes i heard a sound like a thud that came from th front of the car.

once i was home i took a further look and ruled out the possibility that it was loose suspension or that my brakes were loose or anything of that nature.

the only thing that i could find was the right (passenger) side driveshaft was able to be moved laterally when i tried to wiggle it. i am pretty sure that it is supposed to have some play but not enough for it to move by hand.

if anyone has any clue as to what this could be i would greatly appreciate it. i am not looking forward to having to pay someone to look at my car, let alone have someone else touch my car.

thanks for the help!

could be the traction controll system booting up or resetting itself. i have noticed a clunk every now and then when i back up, but i read in the owners manual that the traction controll system makes clunks when the car starts to move initially.. for whatever reason, mine only makes that noise when i back up, not going forwards, but when i back up out of a spot, i am usually riding the breaks a tiny bit...
check your owners manual under the traction controll section, and see if the noise you are hearing resembles the noises they describe.. hopefully that is it, and it's not something worse.,.

i get a lil "pop" in the morning when i go to work. Just a lil pop noise.... Sounds like i squished a soda bottle or something. Used to have a cadillac before and it was the brakes adjusting themselves everytime you start the car.

it was a busted engine mount. took it by my favorite auto body place and the mechanic there looked over the car and found that the rear mount is busted. not sure how that happened. thanks for the help guys.

how many miles are on it approx when it broke? damn, how do you break a motor mount??? not like we are at the drag strip with our boxes?
it is a possibility that it may be under warrenty, or extended warrenty. deff worth calling the dealer to check, sometimes power train warrenties are longer then the standard 3yr warrenty.

well, the motor mount did look alittle worn but not broken now they tell me that it is my suspension. i have s.techs and the guy told me that my right spring is shorter than my left and that it will not sit right. i don't think he has a clue so i am going to just try and figure it out myself. (30k miles by the way)
