Stock with a nice crome tip.

You could also try something that uses a silencer and that will tame it down even more.

I wouldn't exactly describe the TRD exhaust as silent... city driving it has a quiet but powerful tone, but at highway speeds the thing really starts to drone.

If changing to an aftermarket axleback, the Tanabe Hypermedallion is the one you want.

MagnaFlow tip is simple, cheap, and all you need.

The Tanabe is the one even after I installed the EL Prototype headers the exhaust was just deeper and just a bit louder than stock.

Agreed, you can use the tanabe axle back or just throw on a tip with your stock muffler. :D

Wow, all of a sudden everyone is in agreement that the Tanabe axleback is one the quietest axlebacks. When I first posted that info over 18 months ago, everyone seemed to call me a liar and said I didn't know what I was talking about!

The tanabe is expensive for being a quiet exhaust system. You might just want to throw on a tip and call it a day. Cheaper agreement there.

You pay for what you get.

In the beginning, I wanted quality and quiet, so I bought the Tanabe and posted MY experiences. All of sudden a bunch of exhaust "experts" started waving the BS flag.

And now everyone is agreeing to what I said 18 months ago!?!

You know that a tip can make the biggest difference with a stock muffler. I have added tips to boxes before and no one was the wiser. :D

Scionjohn has the same one as well.

yeah if you wanna keep things quiet all around, get the tip..

if you want a nice low rumble at low rpms with the cutoff around 1-2,000- id recommend getting a .25" larger (or stock diam) custom catback installed with any large resonator midway (that is the crucial part) and then use a street muffler such as a magnaflow street series to get the nice mean sounding exhaust *only* at ~+5500rpm

then also if you need it to get quieter, you can use a silencer and that will sound damn near stock.

personally, id go for the tip. if you want the throaty high rpm sound, you can always get a decent tone from nearly any aftermarket intake.
