Default --- Won't Start! Alternator Apparently Over Charging---

OK, so last week my car decided not to start when i was on my way to work. i gave key a turn and all i got was a click and an electrical hum. Jumped it and it drove fine for about a week.

Today i went to start it and the same thing happened. I was initally hesitant of blaming the battery since the lights didnt seem to dim when i attempted to start her up. I was leaning towards a starter problem. But, today i turned on my engine bay lamps (dark out) and they lost power when i was attempting to start it. I thought i was kinda weird that the lamps indicated a weak battery signal, but the dome, gauges, etc. didn't.

Now my car did spend a few months in cold storage for the winter. Lazily, I left the battery in for much of the time span. The minor use/cold could have shortened the batt's life, which i am just now seeing the effects of. Since I have ground wires, i checked all the connections to the battery for snugness - all passed. I'm gonna have the battery checked tomorrow. The alternator crossed my mind tho i HIGHLY doubt it could be bad already.

If the battery is indeed bad, it seems weird that it held up good for a system bumpin' week before it ran outta juice again.

Any input to point me in the direction of the problem is welcome , thanks.

at first it sounded like a loose negative but you checked it and it was fine so...... I would start with the battery

update:

Had some testing done:

Battery = Good

Alternator = Good...but way overcharging

Luckily I have a guess as to the culprit. I think my voltage stabilizer is screwed up(fairly low end part) and throwing the charging outta wack. I pulled it off today to see whats gonna happen. Hope its a fix, but who knows.
