Default xB Check Engine Light, VSC, TRAC OFF and the Cat code

OK Gurus,

Here is the deal:

2005 xB no mods (that I am aware of), 105,000 miles
Runs great, then Check Engine Light, Trac off, And VSC light illuminate driving down Highway.

No burps, rumbles or anything. Gas mileage is down about 30 miles a tank.
I took it to Toyota, They started the parts replacing game, I stopped them before they started and decided to figure it out myself. They still got 100 bucks out of me, and I had to ask for the codes.

The only code pulled was the Cat low efficiency code.
I have had cats go bad before in other cars and in fact have had this code about 25000 miles ago and it went away on it own, and the cats that were bad effected "performance" or at least smelled. This has no effect other than mileage.

I'm guessing a bad O2 sensor based on all the data I have and I have heard this can trip several other lights, AutoZone reset me and It was clear for 200 miles and came back on.

What are your opinions??

Ready GO!

Default Same issue here..

I had the same thing on my used 06' xB, the warning lights have since gone away. It seemed to happen to me with about half a tank of gas and a couple bucks worth of gas would dismiss the lights. They eventually would come back on and then suddenly go away even without putting gas in. They have since stopped-its been about 2 months since I saw them- the car has 34,500 miles on it and only had 32K on it when I bought it 6 months ago. I figure it was some glitch...I hope!!! Good Luck with yours!!

See what your secondary O2 sensor waveform is doing befor you make the assumption it is faulty, do you have voltage, is the voltage changing lazily? no voltage?.

a P0420 is triggered due to a bad cat 80% of the time.

Mine "Check Engine..etc" lights came back on and stayed on for about 40 miles then went back off! I have no clue if this is dangerous, if I'll get stranded somewhere. Next time they come on I'll go to autozone and get error numbers and post them here.

Ok guys, i known it's an old thread but my 06 xb with 200300 miles on motor is having the same issue. Had battery light problems, found out i had the wrong size battery and the alternator went bad. I replaced both with new parts and also the belt yesterday. Ran fine for 6 hours yesterday and at night, ran good couple hours this morning and 5 hours ago my vsc, trac and check engine light turn on and its only throwing a P0420 code.

Anyone have any luck with this problem?

Thanks
