Default xB engine performance modification and what can they do?

I am looking for some assistance concerning what engine modifications I should and can do to my engine to make it faster. I have almost completed all the interior work and want to start ordering the engine upgrades. I see several different things like cold air, mod chips etc... What I do not know is what are truly good upgrades, what are not and what amount of HP or Low end they will give me. Can someone assist me in this challenge please?

a short ram air intake on the xb is a good diea. not a huge hp difference, but definately better than the stock air system. check out my thread to see my set up https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=112240

i would say get a short ram so you wouldnt have to worry about water to much...then get some 4-2-1 headers to help the low end, a pulley to drop some weight for better accel.....engine dampener to help control da beast haha......spark plugs & spart plug wires may help...........radiator to help cool da beast..........flywheel/clutch if you drive a stick........and lets not forget exhaust but yea its basically as far as you will get without rippin apart da motor

Intake, Header , Perrin crank pulley. You will notice a difference, not huge but worth it.

Thanks for all your input. I have the TRD Sport Muffler installed. I am going to order the 4-2-1 header, light weight reduction gears as I would like more low end. Is the short intake better then the cold air?

I have a basic questsion. if the ECUs in the xA/xB are 64-bit "learning" units, does the engine not respond well to mods? Are people actually getting horespoer returns for their I/H/E setups?

If I remember correctly people are seeing about 10 whp gains by doing intake header and exhaust. The pulleys reduce drag on the motor providing better acceleration, but don't really give you any horsepower gain. And even though 10 whp doesn't sound like much, it is more than a 10% power gain on our little motors. It won't turn it into a rocket, but the difference is definitely noticeable.

And as long as I am posting I have to throw in my recommendation for the Fujita F5 SRI. A little more expensive than engine, but a much better design in my opinion. It also comes with a spare filter, hat and duffle bag. I purchased the one for my wife's car through http://www.ptuning.com.

Thanks everyone for all your help. I have decided to order the 4-2-1 Header, the YDR air intake, the TRD sport muffler and the reduced pulleys. This option seems to give me the low end that I want.

Man this is a good one with lot's of room for opinion. I agree with the typical I/H/E. Small differnce's that add up to a big overall difference. On my personal Xb I have the AEM CAI and the EL Protoype's Ceramic Header. I have the TRD exhaust and I did the Groundwire kit as well as changed to Iridium plug's. The final step and a very reluctant step was the Underdrive pulley. Wow That made a huge difference and there have not been any adverse effect's as of yet. Again All the change's Together made the overall difference seem very big. I just drove my friend's stock Xb and the difference between mine and his is night and day. Doing the mod's over time make's it harder to gauge the overall change and that is why I suggest doing all the mod's then find a stock one and drive it, feel the difference. I bet you will be surprised at what these little thing's can do! Good Luck! Happy Modding! Oh Yeah and SEARCH here alot. Ton's of good info right here.

Do a lightened flywheel. Unorthodox racing has a nice looking one.

Unorthodox is underdriven. You will be better off with an Agency Power (ZPI) or Perrin.
