Default xB Engine Swap?

The xB no matter how cool looking is very under powered.
My question to the world is that if you can get your hands on a tC, Prelude, Integra, Civic engine

Can you swap the xB engine for a different engine like the Civic's

How many times can you ask a question that has already been asked? I mean I don't usually jump on someone that asks a question like most people in here do but I have seen several times where you asked something silly that has been discussed numerous times! Do a search man!

geez guys just answer the damn question it takes less words to answer the wuestions than to complain about the damn questions. Yes you can do a swap but not an h22, just wait till someone posts about it on this forum. But i have heard about someone doing a celica swap into an xA.

Lets see here. Its been done in a echo. The 2ZZ-FE engine was slamed into one by a UK company. Pics can still be found, but company no longer around. There have been a few tries, but no real go. The main thing is, if you want a car that you can do engine swaps with, buy a honda. The xB is a car for looks not speed.

Here is some help, thanks to one of the mods who was the OG poster of the links. I have no clue if they still work or not. This is just a short list of the engine swap topics that seem to come up.

im planning on a 2zz swap on my bB..think of it. 180 horses. 6 speed trans, in a car much lighter then a celica. lots of potential in that one.

Yeah but you would spin the tires to much + I dont think I would fill to safe driving a xB over 100mph. Also that engine combo would probably add about 50lbs more fat to the car if not a little more.

WTF. I just read through the whole question. Why in the world would you put a honda engine into a toyota? That would be way to much work. Just buy a civic & make life easy

what I don't understand is that if Toyota is targeting the "tuner" culture why didn't they make a tunable engine? I think they should have the RS3.0 with an engine that can be modified for horsepower. It would make every Scion owner sooo much happier.

Thats what the tC is for. As for tunner, there are different types. A true "tunner" will be able to get more power from the 1NZ-FE. I can think of ways to make it happen, just that it takes money that I dont have + dont want to spend. Really how much power do you need? Can you do all the posted speed limits with no problem? I can, so I dont really see the problem. What the slow 0-60 times, there are slower things out there. I bought my "performance" parts, more for looks then power. I know I wont really gain anything but noise from them, but thats what I wanted. If ppl want higher hp cars, should have bought a older Civic Si w/B16 engine in it

I've been trying to research the 2ZZ as well...but the 1ZZ seems to be a better choice as far as torque (after a SC is installed, that is). Yes, the 2ZZ is 170+HP but after doing some hard thinking (and asking a couple members on here...Thx hotbox05) the 1ZZ would be more useful in the long term IMHO. How about the 1ZZ w/4WD? ANYONE?

If you wanted a fast car, why did you buy an xB?

These posts are not a joke. It can AND WILL be done. And when it does, all will be eating words. Just like the turbo questions...They say it can't be done, but, you know what? It has and is being done! Don't get on these people for having an idea.

The 2ZZ is a bigger engine (in size, not displacement) then the 1ZZ-FE. So it stands to reason that it would fit. As for AWD, you would need to score the parts for a bB to do that + find a way to get the Matrix/Viber AWD tranny to stick it to. I would just stick with the FWD set up & run a TC over your TRD SC idea. That set up only nets about 145whp. With the Turbo, you can net over 200hp to the ground with little extra work ie: clutch, flywheel, exhaust, tuned.

The TRD SC on the 1ZZ gives power close to the 2ZZ. And you don't have the oh-so-low torque as the 2ZZ does. And with the TRD, you somewhat have reliability as it can be installed by the dealer.
