Default Xb and Xa

So i've been reading a lot lately on the forums, and i've come to the conclusion that we don't get enough respect in the power areas.

I do realize the 1nz isn't a monster, but look at the facts. We are pretty light weight, the gearing is pretty close to allow us to use the power we have, so in reality, we don't need to make 300whp to be pretty quick.

Several boosted xb/xa's are putting down 128whp-150whp. From what i've seen in person, they are pretty quick. Speaking of personal experience, i drive an auto xb that has bolt ons, nothing special. I was dyno'd last week at 104whp like my sig says.

Thats not that much, but counting i've done 16.4 @ 83mph 1/4, its not too bad. Yeah, its not great or amazing. But for a 1.5L, i believe N/A'd thats pretty good.

Point is, give us a break. Big numbers don't always win the race. Plus, speaking for the xb at least, it handles well in autox!

Anyway, Cya

I think what it all boils down to, is:

Does it make you happy?

For me I say yes and no. I could trade in the box and get say a 2006 Civic SI. But then I'd that speed would become just "ok" and I'd want something more. Like a Z... So on and so on until I've got a Supercharged 'Vette Z06 and still not happy.

I did some minor mods on my xB for performance and I get tons of compliments on the sound of the motor. I think the performance is enough to get me into trouble.

I like to think of it as a spiritual cousin to the Brittish roadsters. Little motor, little car, but spirited handling and a well sorted engine/tranny combo.

I've got a 600cc motorcylce that can take almost any production car on the road yet the xB still put grins on my face on a daily basis.

Does your car do that for you?

I totally do agree with you. But, alot of what you were talking about was what i was trying to say. Scionlife should be neutral, not against other models of the scion community. Although most are neutral and respect each others rides (scion or not), i'm seeing alot of hate lately and theres no call for it.

But well said on your part.

I see what you mean. Maybe they need to "Grow Up" and realize most of us are doing this for fun, not ego.

Every day I drive my car puts a HUGE grin on my face, but after having my wife drive me everywhere this weekend I now have a problem... I asked her if the car rode or drove better...she said "it rides good, but it is so much more fun to drive!" So, I may have lost my ride....
I personally don't see it as hating between the 3 models, I think it is more good natured nya- nya-ing. For the ones that you can tell are just dead set against the other models, I make a not of them and ignore any of what they have to say about any other subject. A closed mind is a good thing to waste.

What bothers me is how polarized this site is. It's either 1/4 mile times or cosmetics, with little focus on making a really well-rounded car. It's kinda upsetting when people want to squeeze more power out of their engines, forced induction or not, and the responses are "You're only going to get 120hp at the wheels" or "You should have bought something else." It's that kind of attitude that keeps the aftermarket for these cars from turning into something like it has for the Civic. Everyone needs to realize that these cars are not built for the drag strip, and if you're really concerned with that, get some tube framed, fiberglass bodied deal that you have to trailer everywhere you go. I'd rather have fun with my car whenever I drive it, which is why I bought an xB in the first place.

I agree with you. As far as track goes, autocross is definitely where its at. Period. To me, a road course is fun as hell. 1/4 can be fun, be gets boring fast just driving in a straight line. Besides, 120whp, right suspension set up and you have yourself a damn good autocrosser.

Even with my 104whp, i can take it like a champ...In my class obviously.
