there was a post on this somewhere on SL. I believe it was designed by mugen or some other JDM company. The whole idea is to send the exhaust back into the muffler to keep the performance up but the noise level down. . . well that is atleast what I remember. I think it's been on the market for some time. You should see the Greddy tunable muffler. . . it has two outlets one smaller then the other. . . this one takes the cake in looks. . .

I used to run a Tanabe(it's been 8 years, but I'm pretty sure it was Tanabe) muffler that looped like that on my '90 Civic Si back in the day. Not too loud and decent flow.

Agreed. I think it was 1998 when I first saw one of these "twin-loop" mufflers. Mozart (Konig) made a version, too. There are a fair amount of twin-loop-style mufflers on the market nowadays.

yep, honda style right there. it's a pretty coveted twin-loop exhaust for honda enthusiasts

Default exhuast

Well to add a little bit of info here... these exhausts are acutally from marine engineering, most commercail and sport boats use an exhaust like this. I believe that the whole point of this exhuast was to optimise performance while reducing emissions due to it going through the muffler twice. Also the action of the exhaust going through the muffler twice really helps the exhuast have a boost in back pressure increasing tourque, a must in the motor boating world.
Enjoy.

mufflers have very little to no effect on emissions. only noise , horsepower , and torque.

and these creating torque? not much. a baffled twin loop yes a straight through twin loop like these barely. flowmasters despite their name have horrible flow characteristics and create TONS of torque.

On a four-cylinder vehicle, such as ours and Hondas, etc., a muffler by it self makes little difference in power at all.

I had a Twin Loop muffler on my Hyundai and im planning on installing one on my xB. The sound is very quiet at idle and when you open it up it has a nice tone to it.

fine.

not seeing the muffler from any angle other than in the picture, it looked a little rediculous. Darwin award type stuff here.

(PS i SWEAR dg, you have more birthdays than anyone I know...what are you... like 327 now?)

not true. it makes a difference just depends how much of a difference one would consider "at all"
