Anyone Forced induction runnin Perrin or alternative pulley?
ANy one here boosted and using an aftermarket lightweight pulley? i have a Perrin pulley ut dont want to install it because i have heard a few bad reports of things going wrong with crank resonating frequencies.
althought there is lots of good reports, its the few bad ones that make the difference.
i dont want to run forced induction with the pulley if its going to accelerate the propblem occuring.
Any advice is much appreciated.
would it be posible to get a custom pulley made that comes with the little rubbber ring integrated into it.
how exactly is the standard pulley made? does that rubber ring run all the way across the puelly or what?

1. The vibration is due to the firing order and not due to any mechanical imbalance which could hurt the engine.
2. The OEM damper pulley is not for the benefit of the engine, but for the benefit of the occupants, to give them the smoothest and quietest experience, so they don't perceive the engine as "buzzy".
3. Some who have the Perrin pulley say they can't feel any increase in vibration. And some have used the Perrin for tens of thousands of miles.
I do not want the Perrin for the following reasons:
1. I value the reasons for which Toyota equipped the engine with a damper pulley, to reduce vibration and harshness, to make the engine as civilized as possible.
2. The Perrin pulley quickens acceleration somewhat. To get the benefit of the Perrin pulley, you need to apply acceleration. The harder and more often you do, the more difference the Perrin will make to you. But I accelerate gently most of the time, to save gas and the car.
3. The Perrin part has a cost, and a professional installation has a cost. Many have also installed a Perrin on their own, however some have encountered the risks of (a) knocking the VVT sensor loose, (b) damaging the oil seal on the crankshaft, or (c) having the pulley key break or loosen. And I do not want either the cost or the risk.

no thrown it. it sheared the locating pin, then wore the centerhole bigger untill the pully came loose, causing the bolt to come out + the job lot to fall off...... just as i was showing a GTO3000 how much of a boat it was through the twisties

the rubber dampner pully has a reason for being there.. it prolongs the life of your engine.. it takes shock from when your engine fires especially at a high RPM
here is a link to a fluidampr...http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=5809&
its for a dsm but the concept is the same..
