Default Forged pistons and Connecting rods for 1NZ-FE

Here is some pics for you forced induction fans.

its my forged pistons and rods for the 1NZ-FE that will be going into my Toyota Yaris. But we use the same engine so its all relevant.

the pistons are 8.5:1 CR

(im from the UK)
Price for pistons was £500 and price for rods was £1000.

Default Pistons& Rods

Where can I buy these parts, I checked the Arias piston website and the Carrillo rod site and could not find a yaris part number. Are these custom made or just sold in the UK? Also the price you gave was that in British pounds? How much is that in US dollars.

Both pistons and rods were custom made, they wont be listed on the websites.

But im sure if you called them up asked, they would still have the designs stored on computer. This means you wouldnt have to send any original parts from your engine away.

Both companies are in the USA.

Prices in Dollars are:

Pistons $883 Connecting Rods $1766

Geebus on the price batman! Pretty sweet though. I really wish we had better information on the 'rod failures' everyone here claims occur all the time with boost, but I have yet to see good hard information that says the rod failed on it's own, and not that a horrible tune caused the rod to fail.

Our rod are forged, but that new rod looks way beefy...
that is pretty low compression, what is your target psi?

do thy make one with our standard compression? I have a supercharer on mine and I dont really wanna change the compression I just want a little more security.

my target psi is 18psi daily.

I dont think they make them in 10.5:1 CR its usually Higher compression for N/a or else lower compression but rarely would they make forged pistons in the same Ratio.

Does the Yaris use the same transmission as the xA/B? If so, have you done anything to it or have reason to believe it is strong enough to hold?

i think the scion has longer gears. I have a set of TRD gear ratios, not sure if they use these ratios in the TRD yaris Turbos.

Im not even sure if the TRD units are any stronger than standard gears. I got the TRD gears because they were longer ratios, and im hoping they are a bit stronger.

i have a TRD clutch and clutch plate as well if thats what you were asking about.

Well, I have heard of a few trans failures under boost on these cars. I am trying to figure out WHAT broke but nobody has the info (of course)... so if you are confident your unit will hold with the power you will make using forged internals, then that gives me some good hope

I was more asking of the strength of the materials used, not so much the gears.. things like the drive shafts, whatever differential is used, input shaft, gears, shafts the gears ride on, syncros, etc.

How much power do you plan to make? How much HAVE you made? sorry for so many questions!

Also, how much were the longer gears and did you install them yourself? Hard to do? (I've built engines and such before, I can do most anything but have yet to crack a transmission open.)

im more than happy to answer your questions.



well as for drive shafts etc i will see what happens when the time comes. no i havnt put the TRD gears in yet and the mechanic will be doing that.

I will have to check the invoice on them to find out the price, i should have them with me by the weekend, there sitting at the suppliers at moment.


the most i can manage is working on 2 strokes, strinping them down but the most adventurous thing i did was open the tranny on an auto, motorised scooter

so im far from a mechanic.

I can really say how much power i plan to make, i suppose i would be happy with 200hp at the wheels

Thanks for taking the time to reply! This community will only advance with open honesty and people with mucho money to test things out for us poor people!

I'd like to know how the gears work out for you when they are in. Do you know what ratios they are compared to stock? I am a fan of a longer gear than a bunch of short ones, provided the power is there to keep it going.

NICE. So are we fairly certain that the Yaris, Vitz, and xA/xB use the same transmission?

How much did the gears cost in US$? Also, do you have any pics and info on your ride?

I think the gears work out at $480 that would probably include shipping and and TAX.

the list price on the web site is cheaper but then they are in japan.

im wuld like to think the transmissions are the same, it would make financial sense if toyota were using the same engine to also use the same transmission housing etc, just different ratios on the Scions.
