im thinking you should have gone with a 2zz, unless for some reason you prefer the 1zz. there are many 2zz's running stock internals boosting 300+whp. as far as boosting a high comp engine, all you need is a great tune. and i say that because im sure you spent alot of money building up that 1zz. 1zz's stock can only hold up 200whp. monkeywrenchracing.com has a 2zz stock internals pushing 500whp. 300whp with 11.1 comp ratio sounds sweet to me but im going all motor with my 2zz (on my corolla).

another factor not mentioned for swapping, cost. I remember when i was looking a 2zz's even used they were expensive.

^^^ VERY true.
I also looked into this when I was playing with the idea of buying another 1st gen. A 2ZZ with the 6-speed at a local salvage yard would have cost me MORE than the xB itself!

yea... crap I didnt even think about the trans! gonna need that! I think the cheapest used motor I saw was $5k!!! just the motor, U need ecu, harness, axles, and trans also. Then get axles made I guess using part of the existing. Then custom motor mounts... then probably find shift linkages that work... radiator maybe? Im guessing $15k

and that's a stock 2zz. Personally i'd rather spend $3k sleeving the 1.5, pistons and rods, then get a turbo kit (2k-3k) tuned for 15psi. Bam, run circles around the 2zz swap and have $6k to wave in his face.

I think just fine tuning our 1.5L will obviously be cheaper and more reliable than any swap. Correct me if I'm wrong I have heard a lot of people attempting these crazy swaps but I haven't heard of any real successful ones. blown_xa I think you're doing good with the 1.5L I was wondering what kinda of numbers you are putting out. I had thought about doing a swap at one time but I don't have that kind of money so I am strongly for tuning my 1.5L there are plenty of parts out there to beef it up some.
No offense to anyone i give props for trying to do a swap but I don't see why put that much money and time into it?
