Default 05 Scion tC fuses

I recently bought a brand new 05 tC, and within a week I blew the fuse for the lighter. Not only did I blow it, but the fuse itself melted. and took vice grips to grab a hold of it and get it out.

anyway my problem is that I have not been able to find replacement fuses anywhere for this. the spare fuses that came with the car were a 10, 20, and 25, but the lighter takes a 15. I have the 10 in it right now, but don't trust using it for anything until I get the proper fuse in.

anyway the fuses that the car uses are smaller then mini blade fuses. I've never seen fuses this small, and unfortunately neither have any of the guys at the local Autozone, and Advanced Auto.

Does anyone know where I can get a box of replacement fuses for one of our cars? I called the dealership and they said they will have to special order them, because they have never seen fuses that small either. Pretty sad when the dealership doesn't even know what size fuses the cars they sell have in them.

Thanks for the help.

put the 20 in at least, dont go lower than what they used from the factory, esp. if the factory one shorted.

The opposite is actually true. Going larger than the specified fuse is dangerous.

Always go smaller, not larger.

the guys who did my car alarm install blew a fuse and didnt know that was the problem, so my engine was running really really lean or rich, not sure which, but at any rate it was RED hot from the exaust headers 8( gotta get a compression check done on all my cylinders now to make sure it didnt melt any gaskets or seals..

BUT they just went down to my dealership to get a new fuse right from them... theres an idea for you.

Standard mini-fuses will work just fine -- they will just stick out.

Default scion tC 2005 cig lighter fuse

the fuse in my 05 tC is blown im guessing because the lighter in the center console works but not the one right in front of the gear shift. i have blue LED lights plugged into the lighter and they were working fine until one day they stopped. I know where the cigarette lighter fuse is located because I looked in the manual but as you probably know its really confusing to find which one it actually is. anyone have any insight on how to find the cigarette lighter fuse and also how to fix it?

thanks
