2 eD's? Underseat Enclosure? Will it hit?
I wanted to know if the Elemental Designs subs hit hard. I have an xb and im looking to install two 10s (one under drivers seat, one under the passenger seat) and the Elemental Designs 11Kv.2 Subwoofer's seem to work.
I am open to suggestions for other subs as well, and i'd love to have some suggestions on where to purchase the under seat enclosures.
thanks,
panda

I have had good experiences with ed. You probably should post this on their forum. Also, we need more information besides "do they hit hard".... what do you consider hard? How much are you going to power them with? What kind of box? etc.. I had a 16 O.v2 of a nine.1 @ 1 ohm (ie 1300rms or so).. my friend thought that it was insainly loud.. I on the other hand felt the need to get a second nine.1 and 2 xt 215's.... its all in the individuals perspective

I have three Arc Audio 10s in my xB, one under each of the front seats in custom enclosures, and one in the rear cargo area in an Audioformz enclosure.
They don't hit to the point where my hair is moving, but it does sounds clean and clear.
I'm sure anyone in Nor*Cal can vouch for my set-up.

Hello,
Elemental Designs questions can be answered by Mandos (aka Chris) here on Scion Life , he works for ed. Go to ebay and put in scion xb and search from there for the under seat sub boxes.

Well, I'd like the mirrors and stuff inside shake a lil bit, also to the point where i can't hear myself talk. I don't know if two eD's would get that. I also want SQ tho, so that is why I'm looking in to eD equipment.
O_O unless its a prettttty BIG box that sticks out of the seat i doubt it'll hit that hard. BUT if it does be sure to PM me asap! lol

If you are wanting a true sound quality system, the subs under the seats will be more than enough bass as a RTA would show.
If you build a down firing sub enclosure you will not have any problem with the sub vibrations on the bottom of the seat... I am not even sure if you would have that firing up ( I haven't tried it- I have down firing sub enclosures ).
Remember the saying there is no replacement for displacement, well there is no replacement for a good amount of airspace in a sub box either in most if not all cases where someone is looking for bass. So you have to realize how much bass you are able to get out of a box that will be less than .5 cf if the box is to be under the seat. It will be much easier to build a good bass enclosure that would be more efficient in the rear of the xb. I went the route under the seats for several reasons and I really do like the sound of it but I know I would have had higher spl if I had went with my design of a rear sub enclosure.

11Kv.2's would work well there...I can't remember the exact depth available but I'm pretty sure I've discussed it with Notacop and they'd fit.
Of course...depending on how patient you are...we do have this in the workings:
10"er just shy of 3" deep and almost as loud as the 11Kv.2(1dB down or so).

Availability, I'm pushing to get it in production as quickly as I can...hopefully available for purchase early next year.

There is a person on eBay that is selling these under seat sub boxes, he says the cubic foot measurements for them are 1.2. I have measured this area and all you basically come up with is about half of that or .5, I hope someone will start building them thats knows how to measure.

My original design was taylored to the 11kv2 which I still have. I love it and the best part about it is that your not taking up any space. One sounds really good and I'm sure two would pound. I'm pretty sure that my box design would work for the drivers side too if I turned it around. The metal bracket that holds the jack in would presumably need to be cut off. I designed it so that it fits between the seat risers and is vented on the bottom to reduce seat vibration and to not inhibit the floor heater vents.
The original design was only 5.25 inches deep and had a ft^3 of about .44, My new design is optimized to the space and is 6" deep just over .5ft^3.
