2006 scion tC have welcoming messages?
i learned that the 2005 model has easter eggs, which are personal welcoming messages when the car is started. I just wanted to know if the 2006 model has the same easter eggs. If so, please lay out the steps for me. thx

The welcome messages (which can be customized) aren't necessarily easter eggs. There are instructions in the stereo's manual. I don't know if the 2006 has it or not, but you can check with your dealer and see if they can get you the manual for the stereo itself... not just the car.

To enter the "Secret mode" on the pioneer stero, press and hold the 'A' button and turn the ignition to 'ACC' from 'secret mode' you will hace 15 seconds to create a new screen message by entering any of the following sequences (to go back to the original screen repeat the sequence.)
"WhatMovesYou"
press and hols 'A' and 'TEXT' simultaneously and turn the key so 'ACC' is off.
"PushMyButtom"
press and hold 'M' and 'A' and '2' simultaneously and turn the key so 'ACC' is off
"Scion=A+B+C"
From the AM setting, press and hold 'FOLDER UP' and 'SCAN' simultaneously and turn the key so 'acc'is off.
("Scion" in japanese)
insert cd and set to track number 2, press and hold 'FOLDER UP' and 'TEXT' simultaneously and turn the key so 'ACC' is off.
the dealer told me it would work for the 06 but i dont kno if the raido is the same for 05 and 06 and my tc hasnt came is yet

If you'd like to change the welcome message on the stock Pioneer stereo headunit, simply follow the directions below:
1. With the main unit swtiched on, turn the key from the ACC position to the off position.
2. On the main unit, press and hold AUDIO CONTROL then turn the key to ACC (while still holding down AUDIO CONTROL). The horizontal line in the LCD display will start flashing.
3. Within 15 seconds, press and hold the MUTE button then turn the key to OFF. (If 15 seconds or more elapse you'll get the "TIME OUT" display....if this happens, just repeat from Step #1).
To Edit the Text (you should see a flashing cursor with "A"):
1. Press the VOL/LEVEL + or - buttons to change the flashing letter.
2. When you get to the letter or character you want to be displayed, press the AUDIO CONTROL button to select it.
3. The cursor will move to the right one space so you can select the next character.
4. Once you select the 12th chracter, the entire line starts flashing. To delete a selected character, press the MUTE button.
5. Once finished selecting the text for the line, press and hold down the AUDIO CONTROL button.
You're done.

yes, the method for changing the welcome screen is different on the 2nd gen head units vs the 1st gen. the instructions are in the manual on how to change it.
also, i have not been able to get any of the "easter eggs" to work on the 2nd gen head units yet. i've tried the methods mentioned in this post with different combinations by replacing the "A" button with something else, but none appear to work. hopefully in the next scion mag there will be more info...
