Default Adding MP3 capability to my 05 xB

I have a 05 xB with the standard factory radio. I got a SanDisk Clip MP3 player for Christmas and I’d like to use it in the car. As you know my xB stereo doesn’t have jacks for MP3. I am not a stereo guy but I’ve read about options here and elsewhere until my head hurts. I mostly want to listen to audio books on my 70 min. drive to work. I want to do it the cheapest way that’ll work. Some people have told me the wireless adapters are the best choice. Others have said I’ll get constant interference. I’d rather have nothing than that. I figured that before I call a stereo shop I’d ask here and see what works for you.

A cheap way is to go to Wal-Mart and by a FM transmitter. It is not the best but it lets you play your MP3 player on your radio. Its like $30.

Because of the constant gripe from FCC and interference regulations, the FM transmitters generally suck pretty bad. What makes it worse for the xB is the location of the factory antenna in comparison to the location of the OEM DC/Jack. I'd say: don't bother wasting your money. Instead, find a decent aftermarket head unit that supports USB. There are tons of them available now. You can even find them with built in hard drives and such.

FM transmitters are crap. You can get a new headunit with an aux in for just over 100 bucks. It'll also improve sound overall, since most aftermarket decks have more power to offer your speakers.
