I replaced the map light with a blue LED awhile ago to go with my other interior lighting. But, it was kinda hard to actually read maps or text, or look through all the crap in my deep armrest console or glove box in the blue light. I didn't want to go back to the stock bulb or a white LED b/c I didn't like how it shined in my face, so here is what I came up with. They give you more of spot light that you can aim wherever you want. Picked up the snake lights from the fishing section at wal-mart for $5 each (can be found elsewhere online though), used just the snake part, and replaced the LEDs/wiring with pre-wired 12v white LEDs (also purchased for $3 at wal-mart as a set of liscence plate LEDs) connected up to the domelight.

 

Not really my style. It's kinda medusa-esque.

 

I kinda wanted them to be about a third of that length but both the base and the LED shroud are cemented on there with something pretty secure. I didn't want to ruin them just trying to get those off. Maybe another day. Though, its nice having something I can up swing upwards to look through my visor CD holders.

I kinda dig it... I have used those same LED bolt things before too, you can do all sorts of neat stuff with them. (Cheap too) Cool idea though!
