Alarm Experts please help with my Alarm problem
I got an alarm installed in my XB last year. It is called "The Hornet" I guess it is part of the Viper alarm family. Anyways, I remember the installer telling me that it has a safety feature where you can lock, unlock, then lock the doors from the inside in succession and the alarm will go off. I thought that was weird but didn't care to much.
The problem I have now is that if someone is in the car while driving and accidently locks, unlocks and locks the doors in succession then the alarm goes off while driving. The only way to turn it off is to pull over, turn off the car then unarm the alarm with the key out of the ignition. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this stupid feature?
Thanks

Unlock Lock Unlock with door open. Thats how to put it into valet mode. (turns off the siren and shock sensor)
When you lock it when you drive, you purposely arm the alarm. And vibration causes the alarm to go off. DONT ARM IT WHEN YOU DRIVE!!!
Same with any alarm.

So I can't have the doors locked when driving? Sometimes people think the lock switch is the window switch while driving. They accidently lock unlock lock to roll down the window while driving and the alarm goes off. I am not setting the alarm with the keyfob when I am driving, it is the door switch that is setting it off.

There should be a connection that was made to the alarm for 12v acc. If that wasn't made at the time of install then the alarm "brain" doesn't know when the car is on. So, it will arm while the car is on. Check for a connection to 12v acc. It will take some looking at wire diagrams so I hope you are comfortable enough with that.

it does sound like the ignition wire isn't hooked up, usually a yellow wire on viper alarms goin to a black wire in the ignition harness. i havent ever dealed with the hornet alarms, i work with viper alarms on a daily basis. where was it done, circuit city?

I took it to the installer, they opened it up and ran a diagnostic unit on the brain and noticed there was a problem with it. It was putting the unit in panic mode for some reason. That installed a new brain and it fixed the problem. Thanks for your help. By the way it is an aftermarket alarm, "hornet" which is a alarm from the viper family. They installed it so I can use my factory keyfob.
