Alpine Type-R or Kicker CompCVRs?
Hello, My 10" L7 Solo-Baric blew out on my yesterday so it is now time for new subs. I have a sealed dual 10" enclosure on hand. I'm gonna power the new subs using my Audiobahn amp that puts out 200w x2 at 2ohm. So I'm looking to buy two subs that each have dual 4-ohm voice coils. Right now, I'm deciding between the Alpine 10" Type-Rs and the Kicker 10" CompCVRs. Which set of subs at 200w is gonna give me the hardest thump? Thanks for any help!

I would honestly say neither of those subs, both are great subs, but your amp will under power those subs and you take the chance of blowing them also. If I had to choose, I would say the Kickers, they require a little less power then the Type R's.

Ok, so now I've narrowed me choices down to this: Either replace my Single 10" L7 running 400w RMS for $200 or slap in two CompCVRs at 200w RMS each for a total of $200. Which of these will give me more bass? (I'm looking for SPL) Thanks for any advice!

Two CVRs will match a L5 with the right power. Take it from me, I used to listen to them side by side every day for at least 6 months. BUT they REQUIRE 250-300w RMS to function properly.

a 10" L7 should have 650-750 watts on it...
Underpowering a sub WON'T blow it!!! BUT, having an amp that isn't powerful enough for the sub makes you want to get everything you can out of it... many people will turn up the gain more than they should causing a clipped signal which WILL blow a sub...

the higher output voltage you have from your RCA's / HU, the lower your gain needs to be set... if you have 8v pre-outs (Eclipse HU's), your gain should be set very low, if you have 2v pre-outs (lower end Alpines) your gains for the same output should be set higher...

I would look into these 2 options. They're both 200Watts RMS.
