Alpine Type-R or Kicker CompCVRs?

To clarify,
Distortion cause speakers to blow. Underpowering will cause distortion. Over powering will cause distortion.
SOME Eclipse headunits have a 5V pre-out. Not 8V.
Your amp is 200W RMS @ 2Ohm. Those Eclipse subs are 200w RMS @ 4Ohm. At 4ohms your amp will only push half power. (100W). At 2ohms those subs will require 400w RMS of power to properly push them.

underpowering WILL NOT cause distortion... just less volume...
when you turn the volume UP on a head unit with rca's, the rca voltage rises thus causing the volume of the sound coming from the amplified signal to go up... when you turn down the volume on the HU, the voltage in the RCA's goes down causing the volume of the sound coming from the amplified signal to go down....Edit-need to clarify: The rca voltage is directly effecting the wattage being pushed to the driver (speaker/sub) depending on the setting of the gain.. RCA voltage goes down, gain stays the same, watts goes down, volume goes down...end edit
if putting less watts through a speaker/sub caused distortion - thus causing it to blow, then turning the volume down on your HU would cause the speaker/subwoofer to blow...which is obviously not true...

Underpowering only causes distortion IF someone uses their gain as a volume **** to get more power. Setting your gains correctly so that your amp is putting out rated power and not clipping = NO DISTORTION.
Saying underpowering causes distortion is like saying that if you don't listen to it cranked at all times will blow your speakers. It won't...you're just giving them less power = less volume. As long as the wave isn't a square, you = good.
