You are gonna need a line out converter with the stock deck.

It won't work well... if at all. Either an LOC from the local stereo shop or a Subplug from Norcalscion.com is the right way to do it.

The right way to do it is to replace the stock deck with an aftermarket deck with RCA line coming from the deck.
(knowing this, This is my future plan, so the RCA lines from my stock deck are only temporary, This "might" have something to do with this.)

I just set up a Mono amp and sub box in my xb and I purchased the LOC RCA convertor and proceeded with the install with my buddy. After we got it all installed and running he said to me "that in all the years he has help people install amps on to stock stereos, I was the first person he has seen use one of these." I asked him how else would you get the signal to the RCA line and he told me that you just cut of one side of the plugs and splice the wires to the speaker leads from the deck.

One week later I installed new componant speakers in the rear and coaxiles in the dash and doors. I had the rear channels wired to LOC RCA convertor and didn't want to go spend another $30 on a LOC RCA convertor again, so I grabbed one of my old RCA lines and proceeded to cut off the end and wire into the speaker leads and installed a 4 channel amp and plugged both the new and old RCA lines into the amp and patched down to the monoo amp and all is sounding FINE!!!!

Try'd.....Test'd.......Approved!!!

Sorry for the long read.

The install is simple...

Install an SNI-35 (PAC Industries) line out converter. This will convert your speaker (high) level output from your radio speaker wires to a RCA (low) level output for your RCA cables. There is no need to spend money on an aftermarket radio if you don't have it or want it just to add an amplifier to your stock system. To make the SNI-35 "plug-n-play" just pick up a male and female stereo harness (TA02 & TA02R by Scosche) and wire them together matching the colors. Make sure that you wire up the SNI-35 white and wht/blk and grey and grey/blk to the rear speaker wires. The Totota harnesses can be picked up at Wal-mart, along with the line out converter.

I have done literally thousands of these types of installations on various types of vehicles over the last 20 years. It is a no brainer. If you have any questions call me 805-501-3920

There's the hacers way to car audio , then theres the professional way to do things. The professional way ALWAYS protects the longevity of product and ensures proper performance.

he's right

I have a stock h/u with a line converter connected to a 250.2 Rockford amp and a sealed Kicker 12 Comp

sounds fine, works fine, very simple

plus, it helps resell value if you have the original parts in working condition

JDM speaks the truth!

You asked for advise and you have several people giving you sound advise (and one person giving real $#@^%! advise) listen to what we say.

Do hack your system.. Do it right.
