Default Anyone use ebay to buy LEDs?

I see this company on there that is selling LEDs for dirt cheap. 20 pre-wired for a little over 10 bucks. They even have 40,000 MCD (bright as hell) LEDs, in packs of 50 with FREE resistors (although not pre-wired) for about $13 shipped from hong kong...

http://stores.ebay.com/TopBright88-L...QQftidZ2QQtZkm

If anyone has experience with this company (or an ebay LED seller), please let me know how the LEDs are. For the price, I'm very eager to buy these...

Thanks again,

Can't say for sure that it was that exact company but I have purchased LED's from Hong Kong though eBay and it was a a great deal. 100 blue 3 mm LED's and resisters for .99 cents. Shipping was something like 11 bucks but it was worth it.

Awesome to hear that, dude. how many MCD was it? how bright? How well do they light up the interior?

I'm thinking about installing a few above the driver seat and above the passenger seat and wire them to the dome light... i want them to be bright as hell and want them to light up the interior like it's sunny out! lol!

I bought them so long ago it's hard to remember the details. I used them in my headlights

The light shown here is just two led's one in each headlight. Good luck with your interior lighting project.

i bought a set of those prewired (VARAD) Leds. they have resistors, wire, and the leds are positonable (as they have a bendable lead that you can move around) they are stupid bright, and the reistors are perfect. they are a very simple red to power, black to ground wiring. 4 in a pack for like 10 bux and 3 dollars shipping.

I like to tell everyone, if its possible, try and stick with the same LED manufacturer, cuz all reds, blues, (colors) will vary slightly from everyone elses. with different resistors, and whatnot. If you are planning to add other LED mods, or possibly show your car, its extra points to tell the judge, "and all the leds are ____________ so all the colors match perfectly, instead of being slightly off."

i do this to the judges all the time, and then the go back to the other cars and realize their reds are all slightly different, or do some dont glow as bright.... etc etc etc.

I've heard of that brand of LEDs before InGaN... not to bad of product...
only thing i'd ask you about in regards to this particular product is... what are you using them for?? if your going for more of a "spot" light function then go for it... if your going for a "flood" light look.. then may want a different model of LED...
the LEDs they have listed have a 20degree viewing angle... so 20 degrees in either direction from dead center, they'll have the same brightness... then vary noticiable drops after that.
its kinda like laptop montiors or LCD tv's... look great front on angle then to a certain point as you go side-side... but go to far and you may be lucky to tell if its even on

anyways.... the LED manufacture is good.. dunno about the store it self..

just depends on one's definition of cheap... if your buying lots or few....
www.superbrightleds.com
www.oznium.com
are a coulple sites..first one you can buy bulk as low 35cents each
second site i think you can get 1-2 for just under a buck each... those are just 2 sites that i can think of now... do a google... think i've seen some places go as low as 15cents each when ordering by the 1000's... again just depends on your needs

For me, I figure if I mount them to the xB roof, by the dome light, the "shine" from the LEDs (from maybe 4-8 leds) will be enough to provide good lighting to the driver side of the car. I'm thinking a few of these led's above both the driver, passenger, and then above the rear seats too, should be good enough. so although they're 20 degree LEDs, I think mounting them high enough will yield a wide enough shine to light the areas mentioned...

I'm going to buy some this week and will hopefully have them and install them by the end of the month.

why not just buy the LED Dome light? or the LED Bulb that replaces your stock bulb? also if you wanted a wider beam, buy the wide beam LEDs. they make an LED for just about whatever you need.

Google and Yahoo are your Friend.

I just ordered the following:

- 50X UltraBright White LED 5mm 40,000mcd!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7608371174

- 20X 5mm Ultra Violet UV LED LEDS
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7604720166

and the following from the oznium site:
- 70 led holders
http://www.oznium.com/led-holder

Now I need heat shrink tubing stuff, epoxy, and wiretaps.

I also need wire to connect these LEDs but i'm not sure which guage to use. Any ideas guys?

Have an awesome day!

should be able to use tiny wires, 22 ga. or 24ga. there is almost no current or load on the wires.

Thanks redneck for the info! I'm going to get 22guage wire. Damn, just thinking about how much wiring is involved makes me nervous! lol.... 18 leds... that's about 3-4 feet per lead PER LED (i decided to install them parallel as opposed to a serial circuit)... so 18 led's means roughly 100+ feet in wiring.... wow...

Holy crap!

=]

This is an update to the post about the LEDs i bought.

They arrived and are bright as all hell! the 40k MCD bright whites are gorgeous and the ultraviolet ones are gonna look awesome pointing at the roof of my xB. i am soldering all of the leds and resistors together right now and just throwing around some mounting ideas (where to mount them, how many, etc.)

if anyone is in the market for LEDs, follow the 2 ebay links that i posted above. these LEDs are good quality and really really bright. definitely a good buy.

i paid about $27 for 50 bright as hell ultra white leds and 20 ultraviolet leds. 70 leds totaling 27 bucks. they came with 70 resistors for free!
