AVH-P4300 wiring question
Just got my AVH-P4300 and am looking at the somewhat complicated wiring between the wiring harness from Metra and the wiring for the HU. What I have been trying to determine is where the violet/white wire with fuse resistor (on the harness that comes with the HU) connects to. It states the following:
I searched the forum as best I could so now I ask for insight, thanks.
Of the two lead wires connected to the back lamp, connect the one in which the voltage changes when the gear shift is in the REVERSE (R) position. this connection enables the unit to sense whether the car is moving forwards or backwards.
I understand all that...but unsure what to bridge to. I searched the forum as best I could so now I ask for insight, thanks.

Well, with the AVH-P4300, it's only navigation ready. That reverse wire is only good if you have the navigation module as well, and a back up camera. If you're not using or don't have the navigation or back up camera and just want to use it for music and such, I'm sure you can just ignore that wire.

Alrite...so finished the install. Bought the Metra Harness and I also bought a bypass for the dvd player so it will play while in motion. Thats where my issue is. I was watchin this vid : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRQeqke4YYw
Duplicated what I saw...green bypass wire to green parking brake wire, blue to blue, ground the black. This is what I get:
Any help would be appreciated.

Found the problem. The tap splice supplied with the radio harness did not penetrate the insulation to make contact with the wires for the ground wire.
Moral: Always check your connections and those damn splices when done.
