I have the Python 881XP 2-way system with the Responder Remote, which pages you if the alarm goes off or even does a warning chirp. I opted for the proximity sensor, backup alarm, and a cool led scanner. You can obviously choose not to hook up the remote start, which I did because I have a manual transmission.

I'm very happy with my system, but it was $1100 installed with all the options I chose. Your peace of mind may come a little cheaper.

$1100
That was way tooooo much, even with those options. I had a customer get a $1200 alarm installed once but I put in 4 door actuators, trunk release solenoid, backup battery, proximity sensor, glass break sensor, remote start, exterior headlight l.e.d.s, and extra sirens all on a Viper790XV.

$$$1,100$$$ Dude you need alot of security to allow peace in you mind!! I would never spend that much on a security system. But I guess you u have the money, do as you please . I really like the new Viper 2-way led system. But I may just go with the Viper 650 XV with a sensor

I have to say, and I'm sure I'll get bashed for this, but I like the Scion Security. I have it, and when my neighbors were messing with my car the first night I got it, it DID let me know. Not biased, but honest. I found one if you want one.

i have a Clifford Matrix RS 3.5, which is the same as the other 2 way paging systems made by DEI (python & viper). Since i work as a car audio installer, i installed it all myself, and i got all of my product at cost, so i won't ____ anyone off by posting the price i paid...but i'll tell you one thing.....$1,100 for the alarm you have, and all the add-on's you added....you over paid. your story remonds me of a thread i read a few days ago about somone pumping 13.9 gallons of fuel into his Scion.......... makes me wonder...............

anyways..... my Clifford (DEI) alarm, have remote start built into is, along with the 2 way paging device. it comes standard with a shock (impact) sensor, and i added a tilt sensor instead of a prox sensor. my windows are tinted 5% all the way around, and i'm worrried more about my XB being jacked up to remove wheels than i am about someone looking in the window (there too dark anyway). i put 2 sirens behind my front bumber when i installed my head lights (the bumber has to be removed for this), and i added a hood pin, hatch pin (even thogh this is tied in with the door trigger, i wanted to seperate it so it would show "trunk" on my LCD remote! I added an xtra LED for a total of 2, and my alarm brian was stuffed under my dash. i removed my dash to install a pair of Boston Pro 6.5 compnents where the factory tweeter would normaly be. this was not an easy task, but i made them fit, and they sound freakin awesome. the dash was off.....and i decided this was the perfect place to "hide" the alarm brain....only way to get to it is to remove the dash! muuaahhhhhhhaaaaaaaa

So how much do you think I should have paid for my system? I figured I'd take a bit of a hit because the shop I went to hadn't done an xA yet, so I knew I'd be paying labor charges for them to figure out the car to some degree. The install took almost 5 hours. I also had to have the light flashers and keyless installed, since the xA doesn't come stock with it like the xB.

And yeah, I may have the money, but I'd damn sure rather have sunk part of that cost into something else, like a cold air intake or exhaust. This is the first car I've owned that I've cared enough about to put an alarm system in, and like most first time buyers, I was probably a bit naive...but then again, not all of us know how to install our own electronics or have hookups to get stuff at cost or with significant discounts. And frankly, if something's going into my car that could potentially malfunction and kill the operability of my car (read ignition defeat), I at least feel good knowing someone's on the hook to send out a tech to fix it.

If you can convince me that I got seriously screwed, I'll make good use of the info, because I had planned to spend a significant amount on audio components and installation in the near future. I can choose to take my business elsewhere, or at least leverage my initial screwing for adequate discounts on future work.

Thanks

The xa is like any other toyota, five hours is not bad, butthe stuff about the keyless entry and parking light flashe , bro all those are built in features of the alarm, and the car came equipted with power door locks, the xa use use negitive outputs so the shop does not need to add actuators. back up battery cool feature, The batttery back up and siren combo, not my favorite, but anyway, either should not have cost more than 65.00 if it is a stand alone, with a trigger wire to set the alarm off if the cars battery power is removed. To test it it, remove the positve terminal from the battery the alarm should start wailing. I hope the hook up the door triggers, arm the alarm and and open the rear passenger door, the alarm should be wailing, did they hook up your horn also to honk in conjunction when the siren is balring, not on arm or disarm just when wailing. glass break sensor, not needed,a properly adjusted shock sensor will pick up a being window being broken.

If you think the shock will send out a tech at 2 am to check your alarm, unless your shop has a customer service policy that is beyond belief, they are going to tell you to bring it in, even during regular hours. We on the forum are not here to bust your chops, but if you are pleased with your deal then rock on bro. if need help to figure out if your money worht then keep posting. Bill Turner
