Default Best Components? Loudest? SQ? Bang for the Buck? Opinions?

I have been doing some crazy research lately and I having reservations on the Component Speakers that I am thinking about.

I'm currently set on the Focal Utopia 165W3 components because I have heard nothing negative about them. I hear these are some amazing speakers especially when it comes to Sound Quality......

But....I want loud. I mean make you go deaf loud. Loud you can hear my over my 4 JL Audio 15W3v2 D2 subs.....

Will the Focals get loud enough to satisfy my needs if I give them enough juice?
What are your opinions on comps?
Loudest?
Clearest?
Overall?
Dynaudio? MB Quart? Infinity Perfect? Pheonix Elite?

Let me and the world know. I know there are people out there wanting to hear what you have to say. I would much rather personal experiences than "I heard from a friend" type stuff.
Late,
Austin

Phoenix Gold Titanium Elites can handle 500x2 continuous and get waaaay loud. They have an LED indicator on the x-over that lights up when you turn up the volume and it doesn't even turn on for me at 150x2. Enough said. Those who've been in my car know that the speakers get loud.

IMO CDT audio is the best. If your considering the focal utiopias your about to empty your wallet. You can get the HD series for allot less and the kick ___. I also have dynaudios but they aren't for playing loud, they are geared more towards sq. You should also consider Diamond Audio Hex. If you want it to be loud also invest in a good amp.

focal utopias might not be the speaker for you if you are going to do 4 15's... you are probably looking for an mb quart or boston sound if you are looking ot play it loud with decent sq.they are "brighter speakers" and should keep up well with the 15's...

I have yet to hear CDT personally, but only heard good things about them... as well as many competitors use them.

I know MB Quart, Focal and Dynaudio make a 3way comp set (Tweet, Mid Range, Mid Bass) but does Phoenix Elite?
I've always been a Boston fan.....
I found the Focal 165W3 for $799.
Now I am leaning toward the Phoenix Elite but still not convinced.
If I bought a 2way comp set it would save me like $1K because I would not have to get the doors fabricated.....But with the Elite I would have to get another amp....
What would it take to push the MB Quarts? I hear those get extremely loud as well.
Let me know....

I have about 115 rms to my p series 3 ways in my civic and it does the job... however I am in it for clarity, not just pure loudness... I would say it does at least 115 db on the highs alone... But that is also because they are in the kicks...

p series? What brand is that?
What kind of amp are you running to them.....
I'm really thinking about the Phoenix Elite's now.....
The Focal sure are pretty compared to the Elite but from what everyone is telling me the Elite will give me great SQ..that you can hear from a block away with enough power going to them.......

Hey rolex87,
What do you think about the MB Quart Q Series components? Have you had any experience with them? I've heard them at a car audio shop but never in a vehicle. Anyone else have any suggestions/reccomendations.
Like I said I want loud!!!! Of course I will have quality amps running my components.

MB Quart makes good stuff, as long as it's their high end equipment. I believe their frequency response is higher (off the top of my head), but some of that is apparently above the range of the human ear, which seems pointless. I wanted to run MB Quart's in my Mercedes (a German unity in action ;)), but went with other speakers instead as I'da hafta cut holes for components. My advice is to hear each set with a favorite song of yours getting the exact same power. A really nice shop will accomodate that request for you. Mine did anyway....... Listen for tone of voice, bass response (although it's way different on a wall than in a car), and little background noises. A good component set will make everything more noticeable and distinct. But, if you're still looking to blow your windows out, I've already made my reccomendation.

I am currently waiting for the new Bostone Acoustic Pro speakers to come out. They are changing from a components to a Coaxial setup. I am going with 5.25 for the back, 6.5 in the front and a set of the imaging speakers for the dash. Have not decided what to do for low freq. yet though.

These will be powered by boston amps mounted in the spare tire section of the vehicle. The speakers will be run with a boston GT 42 amp. That should push plenty of power to it.

I have been waiting for the speakers to get released for a while now. I allready ahve the literature on them, so it is just a matter of time.

Ok....Phoenix gold.
So they get extremely loud and sound great extremely loud...right?
At lower volumes is the SQ good? Do the Phoenix handle all types of music well?
I am into Everything.....From Classical to Techno to Pantera to Snoop Doggy Doggy Dogg....I just bought another amp so I am going to have 400watts x2 to play with for my components.....Let me know because the Phoenix Elite aren't priced that bad at all. Especially compared to MB Quart and Focal.
Looking forward to your response.

Check this out...
I'm not getting the phoenix elites anymore.
They only have one x-over per set instead of seperate x-overs like most other component speakers. I know this shouldn't be an issue but I am kind of obsessive compulsive when it comes to having things symetrical...you feel me?
I was off earlier when I said that I would be getting 400watts to my components. I am going to Bi-Amp my components and get 130watts to the tweet and 130watts to the midrange. This will keep my amp cool running at 4ohms and give me plenty of power(260watts) to the components!!!!
Now I'm thinking about Dynaudio or the Focal Utopias again.....
I haven't heard that much about CDT besides they are nice....
Do they get loud?Someone let me know if they have any more suggestions.
Thanks,
Austin

Stick with the Focals. I have Focals all the way around and I love them. I also had them in my Accord and they were the ____. Not too many people have heard of Focal but all the shops I go to that have heard of them reccommend them.
My shop in NY (Automotion II) is an authorized Focal dealer if you are looking for a good deal call up Chris there 718-981-0154 and tell him Mike with the Orange Scion told you to call and he will give you a good deal. He hooked it up with all my Focals and the rest of my audio work!

So do you have the Focal Utopia line?
What do you think? 260watts push them pretty good. I know they sound amazing but will they get loud!!!!! I have an Eclipse amp so the power the components will be getting is great quality....!
Let me know.

I have the basic focals and they go very lound. I would suggest calling up or going to a shop and see what they say. Im not sure as for amping them. I am runing mine off my Alpine CDA-9835 headunit. That will also make a BIG difference when it comes to sound quality. If you are using the stock headunit its not gonna sound best. Change the headunit and you will have more tunning capabilites and they will sound better. Why don't you call Focal direct and see what they say about loundness and amping.

I've heard then all from Focal to MB Quart to Boston to Infinity ect..... But never one after another and never with the same amps. I will just go to my Dallas Car Toys and be like....."Look dude...if you want me to dish out a grand for a pair of these speakers then you better impress me.... " Then Ill ry to talk them down but if I can't I will go online and buy them half price...

I am getting a Alpine IVA-D900 head unit. It's going to be tight (The Time Correction Feature is one of the most impressive features in my opinion)....I got it all planned out but I just want one pair of Component speakers to be able to keep up with all of the bass that I am putting in the cargo area.....

When I get back to the states I will just hit up my local Car Audio shops. I just wanted to see if anyone had experience with any of these high end products and reccomendations for getting loud and clear!!!!

I have the CDT CL series and they are great. That is the basic speaker from CDT, while I haven't heard the ES series, I can not imagine what it would be like. I will be running a 2000w Audiobahn 15 for my bass. I know it isn't the best sub but I got it for bass, bass doesn't have to be quite as clear as higher ranges. The classic series works with them just fine, only running from a stock HU. Once you add the amp to them it would be that much better, plus the ES has to be much better.

Try www.thezeb.com for some good prices on CDTs. They have the classic series on discount right now for $150 a set, all because the red paint didn't meet specifications. Great deal to jump on if you want some good speakers.
