IMO... There isnt huge amounts of quality differences. Lets face it... if you (like me) are keeping the stock stereo and going with an LOC, you arent worried about not pulling ALL the bass outta your system.
Best sound quality and control of the quality is to go aftermarket stereo, so that you have RCA's and your bass more seperated.
Having said that, I didnt feel like spending that much cash yet, so I put an LOC in, and I am relatively happy with the quality of the sound, just wish I could break it up a bit more for better control.

besides a JL cleansweep or Rockford 3sixty (which aren't really LOCs), I've heard good things about the david navone LOCs. I own one, but have never used it.
