Default Best Monitors?

I am getting ready to add some video in my car and I just need some opinoins. Who makes the best screens/monitors? I know the old saying "you get what you pay for" but is there really a product out there that is affordable and reliable? What is everyone else using?

It is kinda overkill but I like the Xenarc 15.3 widescreen I have. The cool part is that it is the only flipdown I know of that has a VGA connection for a carputer. I am also using the 7" touch screen in the dash as well; the price is what is expected for a higher end monitor with VGA and touch screen capabilities.

Below is the specs on the 15.3 please checkout www.xenarc.com and let them know Dave "Toy xBox" sent you

XENARC 1530YR™
15.3" TFT LCD Roof Mount Monitor w/ VGA
In-vehicle computing has taken the next step, and Xenarc Technologies is right in stride with it, introducing the 1530YR. This monitor is a roofmount VGA monitors that also features composite video and audio inputs, making this monitor the ultimate versatility leader.

These monitors have built in IR transmitters. Use the monitor with the optional wireless IR headphones for convenient, quiet use. The high native resolution of 1280x768 (WXGA) delivers crystal clear images while the built-in scaler supports display resolution all the way up to 1600x1200. Two audio/video inputs, along with the VGA input, allow the monitor to be plugged into 2 audio/video devices, as well as a computer. It is also perfect for displaying HD (High-Definition) programming through it's D-Sub 15 connection.

Included with this monitor are the roof mount kit with monitor attached, composite video/audio cables and VGA cables.

I think Alpine has the best picture

I have Performance Tekniques in my Visors and they have a great picture BUT I had them on next to an Alpine TV and the Alpine TV have a more clear picture and sharper color!

This is the first time I have seen someone mentioned Performance Tekniques monitors. I have been looking online at this brand recently but have not found any kind of review of either their in-dash dvd players nor their monitors.

I am not trying to hijack this thread, but I am interested in getting a video setup in my car also while still being able to make my car payment.

I would buy some vizualogic headrest moniors with matching cloth, but they're about $1200 a pair. I got a pair of Innovatek 7" headrest monitors for $329 and they work fine.

Don't waste your money on the vizualogic pre-installed ones. They're junk monitors that are the lowest end of their line-up.

For some quality screens, Xenarc makes some decent ones, but I'm more inclined to say two other companies that IMO make the best monitors out there:

www.icon-tv.org Icon TVs are freaking awesome, you won't find better.

www.rosenentertainment.com Rosen Products monitors are awesome too...

Thanks for the input guys. Keep it coming. I am only a month or two away from purchasing so I will be doing some research on the brands you have all suggested. Thanks!

well, you could bypass a few middle-men and buy strainght orm the manufacturer.
much better prices can be had here
i'm getting pretty good at finding some weird stuff on the net
if you look at some of their pics you'll see they are vizualogic monitors, except at about a third of viz's prices.
