Default cannot decide! which navigation~ D1 or eclipse AVN5945 ?

hey guys i'm trying to get rid of my pioneer n1 to some new double din navigation
but i can not relly dicide btween pioneer and eclipse.
i like the feature of eclipse but seems like pioneer has better sound quality and video quaility.
and pioneer has alot more of POIs. (pioneer has 11million eclipse has 4million.)
does anybody want to give me any advice on the selection?
i'll appreciate that!

it will work w/ the pioneer dvd changer but you will have to buy a remote to access the dvd menu options. if you go this route get the pioneer av-bus cable it will save you on cable runs.

I have the D1. I have no realy complaints about it. It was a piece of cake hooking up a cheap stand alone DVD player to it.
As far as I know, the eclipse head unit is not amplified and the D1 is. So if you don't have an amp hooked up to your speakers already, you will have to if you go with eclipse.

Whats the difference between the AVIC-D1 and the AVIC-D2. I have a D1 and I'm looking at the specs for the D2 and I can't seem to find anything different.

ease of use - Pioneer
plays dvd's - Eclipse
screen quality - pretty close, could go either way
pre-out voltage - Pioneer 2 volts; Eclipse 5 volts

if you are going just on navigation I would say Pioneer. but personally I would go with Eclipse.

D2 is nothing more then a D1 with new software that you can buy from pioneer to upgrade.

The D1 can be bypassed to play DVDs, I use my PS2 to play them and I can switch to Nav when needed.
The 5435 does play DVDs on the DVD/Nav spot, but you must take out the Nav DVD to do so. Just like an N1, catch is, it does not have a flash memory to store map info, so you can not watch videos and use Nav.

If you are going to add Amps, the Eclipse has the 5V verse the 2.3V of the Pioneer.

Eclipse is also made by Fajitsu Ten, one of main electronics makers of Toyota. So all Lexus/Toyota Nav is technically Eclipse.

Pioneer supports XM/Sirius and the Eclipse only Sirius.
So you cannot use NavTraffic with the 5435.

Also the Eclipse uses a different reverse camera, whereas in the pioneer you can use a universal.

I can go on and on.

Eclipse FTW...

It literally comes out of the box, plugs into the car and works.

But Im speaking from AVN6600 experience. If you need NAVI, then get Pioneer. But if you want the total package, get Eclipse. Its FAR better in SQ which is why I chose it. That and the dual DVD player so i dont need to take out NAVI disc to watch DVD's.

Just one little thing for you guys to keep in mind, if you have steering wheel controls, Eclipse retains them unlike pioneer where you would have to purchase expensive adapters, and also for ease of installation, the eclipse avn units literally plug right in, then all you need to hook up is parking brake, speed sense, and reverse signal leads. Other than that you're ready to roll. Oh, and Fujitsu Ten has been making all the OEM toyota heads for quite some time now, so you can expect quality fit and finish.
....BUT, overall i feel that Pioneer is much more advanced within there technology. And if you live in a big city, XM Nav is cool. If you would like prices on any Pioneer headunits get in touch with me.

I have to tell you as i experience both d1 and avn5495 not 5435.
Navi, Audio quality both are way better in Eclipse. No doubt.
Pioneer looks more fancy and monitor resolution is better than Eclipse.
and Pioneer has more accessories..
But eclipse has better touch screen.
for overall.. eclipse is FTW for quality and technology.
pioneer...they looks good and they have lot of fuction.
