Default Changed fog light bulbs in xB

If anyone hasn't done this yet, and is planning on doing this; I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you change bulbs if you are planning on clearing your headlights, or while the bumper is off!

Driver's side was cake work.
Passenger's side

[/That's my rant]

Yes the fog light is a 9006

I changed the bulbs before I installed them :D

Forget the $350 dealer option!

I Paid $190 shipped, tossed in some Silverstars and installed them myself !

I had the dealer install my foglights..dont have the time to mess around just yet. Please elaborate on which bulbs you got.... what type, brand etc etc. I'm interested in having them a little brighter.

underESTIMATED is correct.
I cleared my corner lights and about a week later got new fog light bulbs and had to take the whole damn bumper off again. I couldn't imagine trying to put the bulbs in otherwise.. like from underneath.

I am getting new chrom bulbs and will have to take the bumper off again. Its a _____ but it definitely is worth the effort.

But do you take it off to change the bulbs? That's like taking the hood off to check the oil...

yep. I remove the fender bolts, and the bolds under the grill, then shift it forward to get the headlight assy outin order to change the headlights/turn signals. takes 2 minutes, and allows me to install the bulbs carefully as to not get any contaminates on them (which would cause premature failure).

no, you don't have to tak ethe bumper off to change the bulbs - but you can if you'd like to .....

the fogs will pop out if you pry on the inside edge (the vertical edge towards the middle of the bumper) - I've got a tool in the shop for this - but it is just as easy to use a wide blade standard screwdriver with a cloth wrappedaround the shaft (so you don't mar the paint). Stick it under the edge of the lens and *POP*.

the wiring is long enough that you can pull the whole thing out - plug and all.

Does anyone know what brand, model # and place I can find good replacement fog light bulbs? I want amber bulbs because I often encounter Tule Fog in the Central Valley. I know that they are 9006 bulbs but Sylvania and Piaa don't make amber bulbs. :?:

"Stick it under the edge of the lens and *POP*. " Sweet, thanks! I've got one fog pointing right at oncommming traffic. Now I can pop it out, adjust it and pop it back in!

I think I'd rather take the bumper off. Same reason as fireballfish. Its easy now that I've done it a few times.
I just don't feel right "popping' my fog light out. Who knows though. I might try it in the future. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. One of my foglight isn't seated quite right.

Its a little loose on one side and I was thinking of getting brighter bulbs.

I can't believe I wasn't notified of my own thread...

You must have some really skinny arms, cuz mine wont' make it. I can barely get the turns out.

9006 = our Foglight bulbs

I bought some Matrix Hybrib bulbs. 80w hyperwhite in color.

I think they are pretty bright comparable to OEM dimmish color.

the loose foglights is a common problem on these cheap POS's there's a thread around here somewhere about this I believe.

The factory fogs USDM and JDM both, fit like sh*t.

Does anyone have any detailed instructions on how to change the OEM Toyota factory fog lights bulbs? I have purchased some JDM Polarg Yellows. I know they will be cool and look very Japanese. I just can't figure how to get to the back of the lamp and pull the original bulbs out. ANY HELP ANYONE HAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I just reached under the front bumper and turned the bulb, undid the conector and popped the new fog yellow bulbs in. It's pretty easy if your ride isn't slammed or just jack up the front and you can see everything your doing.
