Default question about doors locking automatically

I installed the RKE system from Bill awhile back and I'm having a few issues I hope someone can help me out with.

1. If I use the remote to unlock the car, and then close the doors, after about a minute, the car will automatically lock itself. I know this is a security feature and is nice when I'm in the car but I have already locked my keys in there once (at the car wash). Does anyone know if there's a way to program it not to lock automatically?

2. Also, and this is part of the same issue I think... If I unlock the car, leave the door open and then stop to talk to someone (thereby, bypassing the minute in which the car would normally lock itself if the doors were closed), when I close the door and turn on the ignition, the alarm portion of the RKE goes off (I disconnected it from the horn so it really just clicks but it is very annoying). In order to "reset" it, I have to go through a convoluted process of manual locking, door opening, keyfob locking/unlocking, then closing the door in order to get it to stop. I really want to disable this since I just wanted to use the system as a keyless entry and not so much as a security system.

3. As mentioned, I disconnected to system from the horn because I didn't want to wake up the whole neighborhood evertime I lock or unlock my car (those Scion horns are LOUD!) but somehow, this also disables the headlights from flashing when I lock/unlock it. Does this make sense? I only disconnected the one wire to the horn.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been meaning to ask these questions forever on here but life got away with me. I still love the keyless entry system, I would just love to finesse it. Thanks!!

I'd like to add another question to the poster above:

Is there a way to still be able to unlock the car with the remote if it was locked by pressing the lock button on the door? Or is the key the only way out?

Hey, Bill. Can you check on my keyless entry order, please. It has been several weeks since I placed the order through PayPal, but haven't seen the product or heard from you.

Thanks,

...Barry (blacter@bendcable.com)

The feature of the alarm system that is causing these issues is mentioned in the instruction manual shipped with the kit. It states that after being disarmed, the system will re-arm itself after 30 seconds if a door is not opened. This feature is permanent and not programmable. Since the kit is pre-wired without a lead for the door sensor, the unit thinks that your car's doors are always closed. You can fix issues 1 and 2 by connecting the green "Door Sensor (-)" lead to your car. You will need to remove the electrical tape from "Wire Set A" and pull out the green wire. You can either solder an extension to the wire, or buy some T-Taps at your local hardware store. The wire needs to be connected to the Red/BlueStripe wire in a 9-pin harness in the fuse block. This wire drops voltage when any door (including the trunk) is opened (closed 12V, open 8V). There is a similar wire (Red/BlueStripe) in the kick panel, but it does not measure the same voltage drop when a door is opened--make sure to use the fuse-block wire. Attaching this will solve your first two issues, but remember that if the system is armed, opening any of the doors with a key will set off the alarm. You can disable this behavior by using valet mode, however.

The horn is indeed loud--you can force the alarm unit to arm and disarm silently by pressing the * button on the remote and then pressing arm or disarm within 2 seconds. It is a bit of a pain, but I like having both the alarm and keyless functionality without having to buy and mount a siren.

PS--These instructions are valid for an '06 xA with the Panther Security keyless entry kit from ScionSpecialties. Make sure to measure the voltage drop (between it and ground) on the door sensor line before tapping it.

I apologize about the autolock feature while it is a safety feature it can be trouble some at times.

The locking system that the XA has is a SMART lock system, that won't allow the keys to be lock in car when door is open and the lock button is pushed. This system defeat that curcuit for one time use, then the key must be inserted in the ignition and key turned to the on position this resets the xa factory power lock system. BY hooking the door door wire the long green wire in the instructions, to red with blue wire as described in the instructions prevent the auto rearm feature.

When the horn wire is unplugged it should have any affect on the light curcuit as they are completely seperate. If you call me, We can work together to figure out what happened to the light flash.

I switched to panter alarm system in march to accomidate for valued customers on scionlife, I had several request for a keyless entry that had a button for lock and a button for unlock. I do apologize for any inconvience that you been having.

Barry you have pm. thanks again to everyone for valued input. Bill Turner

Default thanks Bill and Cyborg

Thanks for the replies. I'll go over my wire connections again to be sure I haven't disconnected anything but the horn and I'll see if I can rework the wires to bypass the autoarm. If I can't figure it out, I'll give you a call when I have more time.

Thanks!!

Hi Bill,

I've been wanting a security / remote starter for both of my 06 xBs for sometime, and the AS805 looks like it will fit the job just great.

I'm not familiar with wiring at all, do you have clear instructions for the 06 xB?
Also, does the remote start feature work with both auto and manual (we have one of each)?

Thanks

The wiring is basically the same with manual and automatic, the only exception the clutch bypass to start, the as 805 has NO SAFETY FEATURE to prevent starting if the car is left in gear. I have done a few manual starts but only for close friends. The liability factor is huge. Thanks for the inquiry, I hope that I Able to answer that qustion. Bill
