Cheap speaker replacements
Hey all,
I have a '06 xB and I want to replace the stock speakers with something with a little more "punch" to them. I got 2 kids so I'm kinda on a tight budget.
I listen to a lot of industrial/metal so I don't like the highs from the "electric drills and steel whaling" cutting through my ears. On the low end of the spectrum on speakers, I've always liked Jensen, they were pretty much "tuned" to the way I listen to music. Cuts off most of the hi-highs, ups the mid range to the highs and ups the bass to over take some of the mid range.
Jensens are getting kind of hard to find so are there any other brand that have a similar sound?
Boss?
Scosche?
Thanks.
P.S. Before anyone knocks my love of Jensens, I've had them in 3 different cars and I always got asked where i was "hiding the subs". Those little 6x9 could pound! ^_^

Stop by your local Best Buy or similar and listen to their demos, or you can always order from Crutchfield.
If you like the sound from Jensen, then by all means go for them, as everyone has different preferences for speakers.

Dude!
Thanks so much for that site.
So much Jensen gear on there and for cheap!
I found a few Jensen speakers still at the ABC Warehouse near here. They weren't quite as awesome as I remember from the last car I had them in but they're still pretty bassy. I may just keep the factory tweeters and replace all the other speakers for the bass. Quite a few of the Jensen Stereo head units are also compatible with the steering wheel controls, which is one of the main reasons I haven't swapped out the head unit. The wife hates the idea of loosing the steering wheel controls and the idea of me dropping some shallow mount subs under each seat, so this might be the prefect solution.
Thanks again.

I found on another thread about SSP button, that if you hold it down for 5 seconds it gives you a car select option.
Why am i JUST finding out about the SSP button's "secret" function?
My xB has been set to tC for the entire 4 1/2 years i've had it.
No wonder the sound always sounded like it was coming from the floor.
It just lifted the entire sound stage in the xB.
I feel like an idiot now.
I still would like to buy some replacement speakers for the rear.I can barely hear them, and when i cut the front to hear them they sound like crap.
