Default cold cathode splicing question

i want to say thanks for everyone who helped me with my last post on tapping the cigareete lighter.

but i was also curious, since i heard that the cold cathodes use less energy, are cooler, and are brighter, i wanted to switc out my neons for some cathodes. can you just buy the tube splice the wires and connect it to my pre-existing wiring from my old lights, or do i need all that stuff that come in the kits?

any help would be great. thanks

you still need that ballast/transformer thing. plus remember, stay with the wire lenght it came with, otherwise if you go longer the light output is going to be less and less brighter.

you have to have the inverter and can't splice the wires or it might not work at all

you can splice wires, but you can't increase the length by more than 1 inch. but you definately can't use your old invertor. just get the whole kit. I recommend the RANDODE RACING KIT, for its quality and ease of installation.

i finnaly bought a kit at compusa for liek $20. i cut the wires before the littel black box which left the inverter( im guessing) and the cathodes installed as they were. i just attached it to my wiring from my previous install and works great. they are bright as hell. thanks for your help
