Cup holder illumination Tip...

Someone mentioned earlier in this thread something that made me think maybe the factory light installation has different switchable colors? Can anyone confirm?
Do you choose which color you want installed or is there a toggle somewhere you can change it on the fly?
I would love to do the "home install" but it looks like the Scion I'm picking up tonight may have it installed already and I'm too excited to wait for one without

Great thread! One question about the LEDs once they are installed. Do they mount flush with the sides of the cupholders or are they sticking out? There were a few pics posted where the LEDs look like the stick out into the cupholder, but some comments made about those pics seem like that may not be the normal way to install. I would think that would be a possible problem with certain cups.
Also, great link to a couple people to the actual Scion install manual for this. I am going to give this a try in the near future!

The factory ones do not stick out more than maybe 1mm, so it's not significant enough to affect any type of cup. Some of the DIY guys were sanding down their LED's or replacing them with ones that did not stick out so much.

just because .....
Just because your 38 doesnt mean anything. i have a buddy thats 34 and his box is all lit up neons, cathodes, under body 1 led and the other neon, a system the full complete works.
Same here - I'm 38 and the Wife will think I'm nuts (well she does already).
...going to the Autozone across the street at lunch and installing tonight. :D
AWESOME TIP!! THANKS!!!

1. I'm 38 and my wife would laugh at me.
2. It's WAY too much money through the dealership.
But if I can do it for only $10, let her laugh! That'll be cool.

I'm 31 and planning on doing many lighting mods. When my wife saw a picture of the cupholder LEDs in a Scion brochure she immediately said "You need to do that.." Yeah.. that's my girl ;)

I wonder if you can buy the wire harness that snaps in between the wire harness on a auto or just snaps in the end of the harness on a manual. that way you dont have to cut or splice into anything factory. For the auto trans like me, I would just disconnect the blue harness from the shifter and connect the harness that comes with the factory cupholder LED kit to it and reconnect the two ends...I'm going to the dealership to see if they can order just that harness and see how much it cost
as seen more specifically on page 8/9 here--->

Surfcitylocal.. wow.. that is quite possibly my favorite xB now... well besides my own of course, which is still woefully stock.
What are you using underneath? Is that neon, LED, cold cathode? Appears very bright compared to many I have seen.

did it - piece of cake. put 1 oznium led in each cupholder in the front. for power, tapped the solid green wire on the blue plug, grounded it with the bolt from the emergency brake. very simple and straigh fwd!
if anyone has any questions about doing this, feel free to msg me!

i boughyt the lights from autozone.the same ones pictured a couple pages back.pilot lights i think.well i am ____ed off they dont work.what do i do.anyone had a close up picture to see exactly where tro plug everything in?help any one please.

i am assuing they're just LEDs - with one black wire for negative and one black wire for positive. if this is the case, you should connect the red wire on the LEDs to the "solid green wire on the blue plug" that this post talks about. Your ground should be something that you know is a solid ground - i used the break that holds the emergey brake onto the xB. that should be it. once you have these set up, you can turn on your head lights and these lights should come on.
any clearer? let me know if this helps,
