Ya know, I was wondering about that as I did mine. I'm not sure what's involved in getting the console up and over the automatic shifter handle. On my manual stick, I just unsrewed the shifter head and slipped it off. You may run into an extra step or two.

for those who are adding switches for their cup holder illumination/oven bulbs, where are you mounting the switch? I was thinking of wiring the oven and cupholders to the same power source (coming off the line which gets power only when the dash lights are on) but then putting an additional switch between the power source and the lights so that the oven/cupholders dont HAVE to be illuminated if i dont want them on. I understand that's then sort of a two-stage switch (first dash lights need power, then need manual switch in the ON position) , but I wouldnt want them on if the dash lights werent on anyway ;)

so yeah, back to my initial question (disregarding my ramblings).... where are people putting the switch?

I used a round rocker switch from AutoZone and installed it in one of the blanks on the dash. I used a Dremel to make the hole in the blank then it just snaps back in.

I'm not sure what you mean. The blue plug is just sitting under your center console with nothing plugged into it. After you put your two wires into it for the cupholder LEDs, you just tuck it back under the console.

im not sure about all the voltage and stuff. i mounted my switch on the side of the console so it would be easier to wire and stuff. i went out and purchased the "LEDs Anywhere" for $8 and I'll be installing them tommorrow. I am probably going to run one under each cupholder, and then one in the cubby behind the E-brake.

I'll tell ya how it goes tomm!

I put the switches for my underdash CCL's on the center console itself alongside the e-brake. Already had it off, just drilled two holes for the round rocker switches. All you need to do is drop your right hand next to the brake, flip the switches and be done.

Are your parking lights/headlights on when you test the LED's? The OEM wires require them to be on for the LED circuit to be on (kinda like how the foglights are wired).

I did my wifes XB automatic, used a $8.99 E-Bay set of multi color LED's that have options of staying on your choice of any 1 color, color changing (with speed control, changes colors slow, fast or anywhere inbetween) or pulse (___, changes colors at every beat of the music). Mounted them at the rear of the cupholders pointing forwardabout 1" off the bottom (so the dripping cup sweat doesnt short them out when it pools at the bottom of the cupholder) and mounted the supplied controller under the e-brake handle (low profile, doesnt interfere). The LED set I got had 4 LED's on 1 controller, I used 3.... 1 in each front cupholder and replaced the auto tranny shift position light with one also, now that illuminated strip next to the auto shifter changes with or stays the same color as the cupholders. I ran it off the auto tranny light wires with no problems because LED's draw next to nothing.

does anyone know hoe the dealer's kit works or how it switches colors?

I've been trying to figure it out for some time...

yeah the multicolor leds i've looked at all do some crazy color spasm (all colors in 5 seconds) then cycle through the colors slowly (which is what i wanted) then spasm again...

My guess is the multicolor leds the dealers kit uses are full spectrum leds
like these:
https://www.ledtronics.com/datasheets/rgb.htm

which would allow you to select the color by powering one or more of the rgb colors.

but i havent figured out what kind of switch the dealers use.. or how they cycle through the colors (a dial switch perhaps?)...

if anyone knows, please post.
