if you don't know anything about automotive electronics or basic wiring, i'd ask for some help with someone who does.
don't do a bad job the first time and spend 3x more time and effort to fix it

2. It's WAY too much money through the dealership.
But if I can do it for only $10, let her laugh! That'll be cool.

Thanks!
Thanks!
Step 1. Remove the felt from the rear cupholder to expose screw head. Remove that screw (don't lose it).
Step 2. Remove the plastic piece in front of the E-brake (it just pops off).
Step 3. Grasp the front of the center console up around the cupholders. Firmly but gently, lift up. There are two plastic plug-type things under there that will pop loose. Be careful not to lose them, as they can fall free from the console and get lost real easy.
At this point, the console will lift right up over your shifter. There is nothing to undo around the base of the shifter on an auto trans.

You don't really need a switch, though - the LEDs will turn on and off with the headlights and dim with the interior lights doing the cup holder light mod this way.

Just got my 12V LEDs toady, Pulled them apart and found that the resistors are 330 K Ohm, sorry I don't know that watage on these, I immagine that it is pritty low.
xBino; I highly recomend investing in a digital multi meter. Trust me if you plan on owning anything ever that uses electricity an $80 meter will save you thousands over your lifetime, and it will tell you the voltage of the wires you want to know about for your cold cathode. Hint, most auto electrical systems are 13.2 volt not 12! I will post voltage when I install my LEDs

With the car off I Read 12.15 Volts DC
Min voltage I could get to with the LED's still lighting 2.4 VDC
With the car on and running 13.6 VDC
Voltage Confirmed. I didn't check on Ampers, that should be goverened by the fuse. Remember you do not want to overload the wiring on your brand new car!
If you want to know the Amperage draw of whatever you are instaling just use Watts Law W=VA Where Watage=Voltage times Ampers
Convert that to Watage/Voltage = Ampers and you will have your Amperage draw. Math, works every time.

For those who want Cold Cathodes, and fell into this thread, I'm sure you could find this info some place else, but When you hook them up you might want to connect them to the Cigarette lighter wires, That is where Toyota hooks the under dash dim overpriced Leds. I did the my cold cathodes folowing Toyota's instructions for wire hook up using a wiring harnes I made myself with some improvised mounting positions that IMO look cleaner than Toyotas.
