Default Custom Text on stereo

I knew about the easter egg to change from "scion" to "pushmybutton", but when I was looking through the booklets and the stereo manual, you can customize up to 12 characters on your thing, I'm sure some of you know this, and I'm sure some peope don't, I just didn't find it on search so I'm just letting people know.

So right now everytime the car is started, it say's "Shaya's tC!". Man, I wish my celica and mr2 were as hi-tech as the tC

I was just wondering, how do you change the text manually? I saw it on my dealer's tC and I was trying to figure out how to do it... Thanks

It's not in the main owners manual. It's in the manual specifically for the radio. Requires pressing certain buttons and turning off the car to get it in edit mode. Look it up in the manual. I don't have my manual right now but if you absolutely can't find it, lemme know and I'll post it.

Yea, it's in the stereo manual. It only gives you 60 seconds to do it, I had to do it 3 times to get it correct.

xyrcncp- the all-trac had a bad intake valve, 60% compression loss in cylinder 2...new engine. Decided to get a more economical car for her...it was a beauty though. I'll get one for myself in the future

no, you cant do that bean.. but i figured it out, you have the car off, hold the A button, turn the key to the acc position, then hold M and turn it off again, then the stereo will stay on and you can type with the + and - volume keys, hit A to move forward and M to delete, you only have like 45 secs though...then you have to do it again

If you play MP3 CDs instead of regular CDs, you can display the text that goes with the mp3 files like Album, Artist, Title etc. Just keep tapping the text button to see the different things. I normally leave mine on Artist and play a random shuffle.

when I was playing a mp3 cd it totaly knew the folder names and track names. It reads that information via ID3 Tags on the mp3's. There are several programs out there that will let you edit thouse tags.

I just tried the radio trick! off the hook, oh and I remember where I read how to do it before this site. It was in a SCION magazine they were giving away @ the dealership, its a Scion EASTEREGG. anyways this truck works great! thanks again for the reminder.

Now the REAL fun begins...replacing the LED's on it to turn it blue instead of crappy AMBER!

Only if you burn a CD with ID tags programmed into it.

if you use Nero (www.nero.com), it gives you the option to "burn cd-text" when you're burning a cd. the only thing is, you have to make sure that you fix the titles that it reads from your mp3s - it apparently only reads the id3v1 tags and not id3v2. which brings me to my question - does the stereo read id3v2 tags? meaning, if you have a long-___ track or artist name, does it show the whole thing, or cut it off?

i guess i'll find out in 2 days!!!
