The text does work with regular cd's, if the cd has the text on it. Some of the newer cd's do have it. I can't remember which cd i had in, but I find that random artists do have the text on there cd.

Yea, the newer cd's (especially backed by big name labels) will have cd text encrypted on a regular audio cd.

Other matters....this post was brought back from the dead, lol

It only reads id3v1 tags. id3v2 tags are not read. However, you can search for a program called id3 tag-it and it will convert any mp3s you have that have id3v2 tags to also have the id3v1 tags. I do this with any of my mp3s now before I burn it so that they have both the longer tags for iTunes (id3v2) and the shorter ones for the head unit (id3v1).

To those wishing to put the custom text, you just have to read the manual a with a little more detail. It should work.

to get scion in japanese...

right from this book thingy..

make sure a CD is in first!!

First enter easter egg mode....
hold the "A" button and turn the ignition to ACC.

[Scion in Japanese]
insert CD and set to track number 2, press and hold "FODLER DOWN" and "TEXT" simultaneously and turn the key so ACC is off.

it works! id post a pick, but im not sure how to, i have no way of hosting.

if you use Nero (www.nero.com), it gives you the option to "burn cd-text" when you're burning a cd. the only thing is, you have to make sure that you fix the titles that it reads from your mp3s - it apparently only reads the id3v1 tags and not id3v2. which brings me to my question - does the stereo read id3v2 tags? meaning, if you have a long-___ track or artist name, does it show the whole thing, or cut it off?

i guess i'll find out in 2 days!!!
If I remember right its id3v2... scrolls it then it cuts it off...

yea, i have the scion in jap, itz friggin sweet haha.

this is straight off the Scion mag shown at the la autoshow i went to,
first go into 'Secret Mode' press and hold the 'A' button and turn the ignition to 'ACC.' From there, you have 15 seconds to create a new screen message by entering any of the following sequences. (To go back to the irignal screen simply repeat the sequence.)

other easter eggs in the mag are:

"WhatMovesYou"
Press and hold 'A' and 'TEXT simultaneously and turn the key so 'ACC' is off.

"PushMyButton"
Press and hold 'M' and 'A' and '2' simultaneously and turn the key so 'ACC' is off.

"Scion=A+B+C"
From the AM setting, press and hold 'FOLDER UP' and 'SCAN' simultaneously and turn the key so 'ACC' is off.

WarrenSteve covered the Scion in Japanese and u guys got the custom welcome screen down. hope this helps

I think the radio text message only work with 2005 Scion Models and up.
